Hello Start up community! My name is Bryson Lovett I am currently developing an exciting wood+metal product that I plan to launch on www.kickstarter.com. This is my first real product, and the process of sourcing /finding a manufacturing partner is all new to me. So what I am hoping is that you experts out there that have manufactured products before- could give me some much needed advice on:
1.) Best place to find contract manufactures ( I have searched Goolge, Alibaba Thomasnet and have made a list) -I am looking to manufacture here in the USA.
2.) How to approach contract manufacturers and what to provide them with?
3.) Is an NDA essential or will it start things off on the wrong foot?
4.) What crucial questions I should ask contract manufacturers?
5.) Strategies on how to negotiate with manufacturers –to reduce start up costs, and aid in the overall success and profitability of the product.
6.) Possible incentives to give manufacturers to ensure a symbiotic partnership is created-
7.) Better to find a turnkey manufacturer, who can make entire product, package and distribute , or working with multiple vendors?
8.) Over seas production vs USA production.
I would love it if you would be willing to share your stories/ experiences with manufacturing a product, and what if anything you would do differently? Any advice or insights are greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Best,
Bryson Lovett
