I just finished the book.  I must say it was fantastic.  I think it simpy reinforced some basic beliefs I held, but didn`t necessarily encounter often in the coporate enviroment I came from.

The main point of the book is that to succeed in business, one method is to be what the author calls a "lovecat."  I`m guessing this is the term used because it is kind of the opposite of a "bulldog."  By being a lovecat, you use your knowledge, network, and compassion in your business life.  This has to be sincere though, and that sharing your knowledge, sharing your network, and showing compassion is a good thing and will help you and those around you.

It is in some respects a book about business karma.  In the words of Earl (not sure if you watch this show), "if you do good things, good things will happen to you." I don`t want to water this book down into the simple phrase above, however, because it is much more than that.

You can`t expect that helping others connect though, will ultimately help you.  The book has some wonderful examples of how using the lovecat system has changed the authors life and other`s lives.

Hope this gives a little better synopsis.

There was a terrible movie, not long ago, about "Pay it Forward." I think that was the title, with Helen Hunt and some other important people. The little kid decides that doing good things will eventually make the world a better place. He gets killed in the end.

:-) I suspect there`s more to it than love and goodwill.
