I am starting a hr consulting business that will assist community organizations with less than 200 employees, that specialize in assisting women who have been abused. My services will be for the staff, but I need to know how to market to this group and I am looking to have a website built inexpensively, any suggestions?

Thanks

Donna

The first step in marketing to this group is to know if this group needs your services. Are there places like this in your area? I think all the services like this in my area are considerably smaller and largely-volunteer based. Many are also supported by a church. Either way, their funding is slim.

This is one I give baby and women`s clothing to:
Oakland Elizabeth House
and it`s one of the largest organizations that I know of, locally.

The first step in marketing is networking and research, so perhaps you should call some of these organizations locally. Don`t solicit - just open the conversation to learn more about how they are run so that you can know if there`s a chance for you or not.

As far as a website goes, do you need one? These are not typically "sell online" kinds of businesses. You might just start out with a business card.

Donna,

where are you located? I may know someone that can mentor you in this field. Feel free to PM me. I am talking about the service aspect of your company not the web site. Nikole, would be my suggestion for a website. I agree, you don`t need a huge web site to start. Maybe just a few pages for presence. You could also check out your local phone book. I have had less than stellar experiences with a large web development company and a local "reputable" company. You really have to check out the refernces and ask there clients how they felt about the service they were given. A website is an investment that you should not take lightlt, especially when you are hiring a company to do it for you. That is why i say, talk to Nikole  Web Development and Marketing  here at SUN. She does beautiful work than complies with all standards. A great web developer/designer is really hard to come by.

You could also use a premade web service, where you just plug in your info and pay a monthly fee.

Whereever you are at, this place has very reliable resources to get you to where you want to go.

Donna,

I agree with Erin.  Make sure you deal with a reputable local company.

Trust the recommendation of a satisfied customer first, and the company with the large, attractive yellow pages ad last.

Hello. I would be glad to help you build a website inexpensively. I would be happy to create your website with your chosen information for a very affordable rate. The first thing we would need to do is provide you with a reliable website host. I would recommend Register.com. We would be able to create your website with your chosen design and insert your information in as you would like it. We would be able to insert your desired amount of pages, contact information, important links, referrals, services etc.. I will be glad to help you ongoing, and provide you with customer support as needed. I do have referrals and would be happy to provide you with websites I have built. I currently have 4 websites of my own and have also built a safelist. I am also a ebay seller with a 100% feedback rating. I am Paypal verified and have been in business for about 3 years. We would be able to advertise your website through search engines if needed and also create business cards to help you distribute your service to those in need. If you are interested please feel free to email me at gifts.4less@yahoo.com or give me a call at 530-335-5553. You can also provide me with your phone # and I will be glad to call you. Thank you and I hope this helps. DJ. Sheffer

Hello,

I would recommend using Women In Need Network for your web design needs, based on two factors:

1. They actually work with domestic violence victims, and domestic violence centers around the nation. These people would be a great resource to you.

2. They offer great web design packages, including free web hosting. We used them for our web site.

When I talked to the director, she told me that one of the ways they fund their programs is by offering web design programs. When you visit their site, you will see a "Web Design" link in the navigation menu, click on it for more information. You will also find a "D V Shelters" link - they have 2000 domestic violence centers listed by state. It`s a great database, which you should find useful.

The director told me that they do not receive any funding, so they have found creative ways to keep their programs running: web design; seminars; education programs; etc.

Their web site is www.WomenInNeedNetwork.org

I hope this helps you.
