Hello,

I currently have no inspirational ideas for a new business, but have a breadth of experience in startups and small business. I would like add value by being apart of another person`s team - "right hand man." Does anyone know the best way to contact other entrepreneurs or small business, and helping them out? How can I tap this market? Another way to look at it is, where do you go to reach or get new people...

I have tried the Chamber and other networking events without success, but  have become a decent marketeer. Recruiters and job boards mostly only focus on mid size and larger clients.

Thanks... Lee

Lee, it seems you may want to elaborate on what it is you`re offering. One critical distinction between entrepreneurs and everyone else is that startup business developers have typically left the world of employer-employee relationships. At least at the start. The micro business owner wants the whole pie, not just a piece of the pie.

Subsequently, entrepreneurs have often lost interest in the entire idea of giving someone else tasks to do, paying salaried employees, and having to write down instructions. Later, when the business has taken off and it`s necessary to get help, that`s when hiring someone matters. Then, far down the line, when it comes time to take the business public, that`s when broader experience becomes necessary.

In my own experience, entrepreneurs are tired of people with limited imagination or who wait for someone else to tell them what to do. It`s why they`ve taken the tremendous risk of branching out into the cold, uncaring world, with only a few dollars, their wits, and a dream.

As such, wouldn`t it be better to maybe rephrase your post, and perhaps modify the statement that you have no inspiration? :-) That would likely help you market more attractively to people who`s entire life is based on finding inspired solutions to seemingly irresolvable problems.

So what do you mean by "added value?" Wouldn`t the immediate question from a prospective client be, "What can you do that I`m not already doing on my own? How much would you expect in return?" Could you expand on these questions?
