I am looking for advice from anyone in the SUN crew or SUNbassador`s.  I am a inventor who started a company to get my product out to the masses, rather than licensing.  Now that our product is succesfull and launched worldwide, I would like to add services to my company`s worklist.  The services would be from start to finish for inventor`s, even including searching for licensing deals for inventors.  I don`t want to say to much, because I am not advertising, I am simply looking for advice.

Does anyone have suggestions on how to get the word out to potential clients what is offered, without a huge advertising campaign?  Currently we are strictly sales of our product and want to move forward to consulting.

Any advice is appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

Here is just one little suggestion and I know this has been said a million times before but in today’s world, the key is to become an expert in your field (inventing, if that’s the consulting work you want to get involved in) and devote your time to giving back in a way that reaches your target audience (inventors).  Being in IL, you might contact

Illinois Innovators & Inventors

Inventors` Council
Don Moyer

You might also contact your local SBA and volunteer to speak at an upcoming event.  As you know, Forums are also a great way to reach out to your audience so become an active member is the many Inventor Forums out there.   Just get out there and promote yourself as the expert you are!

You could combine the 2 ... consulting and products ... by selling informational products on the subject. Like ... e-books, seminars, videos, etc.

Hey Trent.  There are several local entrepreneur groups in your area and inventors are a part of their membership.  Certainly some of these groups would be interested in having you do a presentation at their meetings.  This would be a great, low cost way to get the word out and you`d be networking too.   Checkout meetup.com for entrepreneur groups in your area or go straight to inventors groups on meetup.com.  Also several inventors check in here at SuN and they may be able to tell you about other inventor groups.  Find them through startupnation`s member search by entering the word "inventor.".
