Has anyone been successful obtaining and using a local vanity number? These seem to be a little harder to find when compared to 1-800 vanity numbers. Any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks and God Bless,

I got one for a client several years ago without much trouble.  As I recall, I just called the local phone company and told them what I wanted to do.  They told me what prefixes were available and I got to choose the last four digits to spell (or approximate) what I wanted.

It wasn`t a perfect solution, but it worked for her.

Thanks for your feedback Sheryl. I think I`m going to contact our local phone company again with a similar approach. Once I identify that they have the number I am planning on porting that number to a company like Ring Central. By doing this my plan is also to ensure that I own the number.

Hello everyone.  Yes you can obtain local vanity numbers. The phone companies will not give them to you per FCC compliance. I have obtained about 7 of them. How? No big secret  just hours of hard work and tenacity. . If you are interested in my finds then please email me at Florida_villa99@yahoo.com

Hi there,

I use CallFire.com to buy local and toll-free numbers. Sometimes they have vanity numbers, sometimes they don't. They're only $2/month and only 8cents a minute!

Also, here's a video that can help! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tIgcKFQ0Tgo
