Okay...I know we have a FABULOUS bookclub here...and we all have some great business books we like to talk about...but wouldn`t you like to talk to others who maybe read the same romance or thriller series as you!? Maybe you LOVE the thrill of a good philosophy book...or theology...but it has been hard finding enough like-minded people to form that bookclub. I just found (in Business 2.0 Magazine) one of the COOLEST sites I have heard of yet!

Talk about an entreprenuer...this guy started this idea when he was 9 years old on his Apple II...and he has now (obviously a number of years later) has now made an online community worth READING about! I just love finding things like this!

www.librarything.com

Seriously...VERY cool!

This sounds like an epinions.com for books. :-) Excellent idea, especially when you`re heading to the liberry with that routine question...."what do I want to read today?" Thanks for the link. :-D

I`ve been reading "Michael Palmer," spelled that way with no initial. He`s like Michael Crighton, an ER doctor, and has some cool suspense-medical fiction. So I tried that on the site. Unfortunately, it wasn`t easy to get just a list of that particular Michael Palmer. There were some people who wrote tech books, some others with middle initials, and so forth.

All in all, there are some things about the site that aren`t all that intuitive. Still, it`s a neat place to play in.

hi guys,

talk about books, I have a few to recommend:

Carl Sagan`s collections, I cannot imagine how can he read so much and think so much to wrote some excellent books.

Please do not miss Contact by him. Forget about the movie. the book is 10 x much more than the movie. This is the best Science Fiction I ever read.

and do not forget Isaac Asimov too. He maybe famous with his robot series, but I am amazed that he is even better in his short story. After reading his best short story collections, I realise that these days there are no real sci-fi around, but all techno-thriller.

Best recent book for me is, "State of Fear," by Michael Crighton. He`s moved into a hybrid form of novel I particularly enjoy, where at the end, he cites an entire bibliography of sources for his story.

There`s a famous saying, "Never let the facts stand in the way of a good story." Crighton has gone the other way, "Truth is stranger than fiction." He`s using real information to form a fictitious environment, then showing how they all would blend together. Very cool concept....but man, talk about a lot of work! :-)
