This post builds on the popular recent forum thread about favorite candidates posted by Joel, our chief community office.

The web is a primary way for the Presidential candidates to achieve their various goals.

Let`s critique the Presidential candidates` websites and see what "takeaways" we can develop here so we can learn and make sure that we apply lessons to our own online efforts.

Here are the links for you to review:

notice how each of them tries to get people signed up for email marketing and contributions, but with varying approaches? which do you like/prefer? and what other observations/reactions do you want to share?

Well, I`m really, really disappointed that you don`t have Huckabee`s site listed, because I think it`s the best and technically he`s still in it.  The man has a resume style listing of all the issues and exactly where he stands on them.  Whether you agree with this stance is irrelevant for the purpose of this forum post - at least you know where he stands.

As a single example.  Want to know where he stands on taxes?  Pro Fair Tax - there it is in black and white.  I dare you to articulate where the other candidates stand as clear as he does.
The other three are just wish wash BS that doesn`t really mean anything.

So my vote goes to Huck!  And the lesson to learn is to be bold and stand your ground, this is how you hook and keep you niche following.  And while Huck`s backing isn`t enough to get him elected, I bet most of us would be happy if we had that size of loyal following.

Multiple css and coding errors in W3C. ( All 3 sites )

Too many "Contribute/Donate" buttons right away - big turn off. ( All 3 sites )

Useless splash page asking for something before offering content ( Hillary )

Difficult to read font color on background ( Obama )

Long loading time ( Obama )

REALLY didn`t like the in your face technique on Hillary`s site.  First thing.  ICK!  I didn`t even really look well at the rest, I was so put off by her in your face stuff.  I did look at little at the site itself.  It`s just too much and I can`t explain why.  Sorry.
I liked the "feel" of Obama`s site.  I also like that he has the issues in a pull down.  I don`t like the "people" pull down.  Why can`t we all just be Americans?  (that`s just my personal soap box)  McCain`s site is not as "soothing" as Obama`s but I like that he doesn`t have the People section and he covers everything without making his home page massive.  In order of my favorite`s overall
1.  McCain
2.  Obama
3.  Clinton
