I just noticed the sub-header for the Coffee Talk forum category mentions "favorite tv show", and yet I can`t find a single topic in here that focuses on tv shows!

That`s a travesty, especially for me, since being a father of a 2.5 year old (with another one on the way, due late Feb) means that I`ve been out to a movie exactly once in the last...2.5 years. So TV has had to fill the gap, and luckily there have been a couple of shows worth the time and effort.

I know what some will say - entrepreneurs are so busy/dedicated/passionate that TV gets the boot. To those I say - get a TiVo or other DVR.

For those who`ll own up to devotion to at least a couple of shows, let`s hear about them - hopefully we`ll find some shared show love (Joel is seeking other fans of Project Runway...no, seriously) - here`s my list of TiVo season passes:
  • Lost (countdown to Feb 7)
  • The Office
  • The Daily Show
  • Battlestar Galactica
I`ve also watched occasional episodes of 30 Rock, primarily to watch Alec Baldwin, who has somehow turned into one of the funniest people on TV. Not hooked though.

Chuck -

We DVR like crazy and weekends I spend a couple of hours catching up while I do some of the more menial tasks in my business and around the house.

In no specific order, this is on my DVR or what I make time to watch:

  • Lost (Yes, 2 more weeks!)
  • Countdown with Keith Olbermann
  • The Daily Show
  • UFO Files on The History Channel
  • Democracy Now (on FSTV)
  • AFV (with the kids on Sunday nights)

Loving the Daily Show fan base! While I sometimes catch Colbert, it still doesn`t touch the Daily Show in my opinion.

I`m definitely looking ahead to the Lost "spring season" premiere. We have several Lost fans in-house here, with varying opinions on whether it`s improving or coming dangerously close to jumping the shark.

They`ve still got their hooks in me, but I know Jessica has soured on it on more than one occasion. I still think it`s the best `serial drama` though, probably because I haven`t allowed myself to get into any others

I am still trying to get over the fact that they killed Mr Eko though, and the fact that they`ve given no attention to some of the key storylines from last season yet. Better not disappoint, it`s so easy to delete those TiVo choices!

I like Jericho [CBS], Brothers & Sisters [ABC]. Not much for television watching otherwise. Prefer reading.

I hear ya Cookie, but we`ll leave reading for another topic. I weight my spare time more in the direction of reading as well, but sometimes it still scratches a certain itch to just have some tube time.

Haven`t seen Brothers & Sisters myself, I have a Flockhart aversion - heard good things about Jericho.

I like Jericho too. My other faves are:

Battlestar Galactica

Veronica Mars

Rescue Me

Entourage

As Chuck mentioned, I`ve soured on Lost as of last season, I find The Others completely uninteresting and I would really like them to get back to some of the original storylines.  Plus Jack has become kind of an unsympathetic character, in my opinion, and he used to be a favorite of mine.

Oh the HBO shows - unfortunately Comcast raked me over the coals and took away HBO as part of non-digital cable, and I continue to refuse to upgrade on principle.

So I`ve been without access to everything HBO, which is not ideal (to say the least). I used to be a Deadwood, Sopranos, Entourage, Curb Your Enthusiasm, etc. fan (maybe it`s better I don`t have it).

I did get the DVD box set for Rome though - which was incredible. So now I`m ticked off that I can`t watch the 2nd season, at least until the DVDs come out. Argh.

Without HBO, you are also missing out on Big Love, which is oddly addictive.  Kind of like Carnivale was a couple of years ago.  Completely bizarre and disturbing HBO creation, but I loved it.

Yes Chuck, Project Runway rocks.

The only other show we make a point of watching is The Lawrence Welk Show on PBS, Saturdays at 6pm in our town. As my bride Suzanne says, "You just know that nothing bad is going to happen for the next hour."
