I can`t really agree with that one, sprindle. I think leaders make maps, and managers map out the best possible route to get you from the point a to to the point b the leaders have defined.

We were thinking of Lewis & Clark... no map of the west before them! They led the way. Then came those who made that first map even better so more could follow their lead.

Today we have MapQuest because of all the great leaders who went before us and all the great managers who made it "easy" for others to do the same.

i think i see what you mean, and where i may have misinterpreted your first statement. in essence i think we`re on the same page. in either case, both roles are essential to (multiplifiable) success.
