I started a bakery 14 years ago called cheese cake heaven.  It featured over 90 flavors of cheesecakes, all my own recipes. I own the trademark name and 1 other name. Over the years I have created all my own recipes for muffins, scones, biscotti, cookies and more, and have won many awards for my products. 4 years ago I introduced a deli restaurant to add food to the already developed bakery side. We serve soups, sandwiches, pasta, burgers, build your own salad and more.   Over the last 4 years I have seen double digit growth, (until the crash) late in 2008.  My sales still came in 7% up for 2008.  I have never marketed this creation, and it has grown to just under 1 million in sales, in a city of under 200,000 peeps.  I get customers from all over the country, that say this is the best restaurant they ever found, they love, love, love this concept.  I was found by a franchise company  last year, and it is in the works.  I would like a restaurant group or investor to take this idea and make it what I know it can be. Where do I go for this?  I am in a smaller city without the resources to find such a person or group. Can anyone offer me a direction?

cch,

I`m not clear as to exactly what you seek-

  • Someone to buy the business?
  • Help you sell the franchises?
  • Capital for the expansion?
  • Developing everything to sell franchises?

Robertj,

The initial franchise circular is complete, and there is a company marketing the sale of this concept.  I am looking for someone with the capital and experience to buy the business and develop everything to supply the franchises. ie a manufacturing facility for products that can`t be made at each store, or hiring companies to make these products and develop the processes for supplying the franchises.  Confidentiality of recipes will be an issue that needs to be addressed.  What will they get from the franchisor, and logistically, how will it get there.

cch,

There are several viable approaches to selling your business.

Generally, I`d suggest getting a business broker, but if you want to "do it yourself" - send me a PM and I`ll give you a couple of places where you can advertise it.
