Anyway, I ran across yet another (new, for me) Yogiism the other day:
You`d better cut that pizza into 4 pieces; I`m not hungry enough to eat 8.
Yogi Berra was famous for saying stuff like that, without even trying.
So I went looking, and ran into other famous people who`ve said really
strange things that somehow, make sense. Another fella, a man after my
own heart, is David Farber.Nobody`s going to put his neck out on a limb.
It`s a kind of dyslexia, I think, where you sort of hear with an astigmatism. I know it happens to me a lot, where I`ll just be wandering through life and see a sign or hear something on the radio that sounds....odd. If I think about it, I realize it probably was my own brain that was odd, not the original.
My latest was seeing a sign: "Presbyterian crossing," and later realizing it must have been "Pedestrian crossing." I hadn`t realized, though, how many other people end up with this kind of surreal view of life.
Rich posted on favorite Latin phrases, and I was wondering if people have other quotes that stick in their mind? :-) Maybe in English, though.
You can observe a lot by just watching. -- Yogi Berra
[It`s] time for the human race to enter the solar system. -- Dan Quayle
