I have to be frank, doing this is difficult. The site, as it is, has been the single most challenging aspect of launching the JOYS. But, I know this will be extremely beneficial, so please be frank and constructive. Thanks!

What would motivate you to purchase JOYS?  because we all know money can`t buy you love. ;) I want people to be excited about organizing their life. Are you excited or at least intrigued?

Just Organize Your Stuff Mission.

Encourage individuals be organized and utilize personal skills and interests to create the best life for their families and communities by providing tools and services which simplify life and inspire possibilities. We create and promote products and services to help people get organized to enjoy everyday, instead of just get through another day.

Currently the JOYS website...

1. sell the JOYS line of organizational products in our online shopping cart.
2. helps people understand the importance of getting organized and how the JOYS system works.
3. provides articles and worksheets to help people take action.

We are making the process of collecting and organizing information less random. The internet is such a great resource, however information overload can quickly overwhelm anyone into procrastination. Our goal with JustOrganizeYourStuff.com is to make it the first stop for people when they need help organizing or taking action. JOYS is providing information organized in the same way papers are filed with the JOYS system. I guess you could say we are trying to standardize the organization of lifes papers and information online and off.

We want to provide just the basics in all our articles and worksheets to help people make sound decisions in their best interest. Explain options, provide pros and con and give them an action list, checklists or worksheets to help them continue their quest for information or take action.

Concerns...

1. Consumer Usability, is the site easy to navigate?
2. Message , Do you get what JOYS is trying to be?
3. Copy writing, Is it to dry? Should we be having more fun, more conversation?

Challenges...

1. Cost, there are a number of free worksheet sites and other low cost options available.

Our unique benefits (which, is what make JOYS more expensive).

JOYS® standardizes the collection and storage of life’s information. It`s a system for the whole family.
The JOYS system can be applied to binder tools, filing tools, worksheets, even email categories. JOYS is the first to use one system to create filing tools, such as file labels and a filing system, AND information-gathering tools, like binder tabs and checklists.
•    System of color and graphics are recalled quicker than words.
•    System is applied to a variety of tools including file label, binder tabs and worksheets.
•    The standard provided by the system allows a multitude of subjects to seamlessly join the system.
•    Details are recorded, papers are filed and information is located under consistent categories in different locations.
•    System does not require codes, numerical systems, computer programs or indexes.
JOYS is manufactured in the US on environmentally responsible paper in full color.

Considerations...

1. Adding a forum, but do we really need another forum :)
2. Monetizing the articles, but would that make the user question the content and our intentions?

Thanks in advance for your insights!

You have a title on your bullet points on the front page, but it doesn`t feel big enough in terms of font hierarchy.

On your store, I am getting a warning that the encrypted page contains unencrypted elements ... that scares people sometimes when they are shopping online, to see an error or warning in a store.

I like the look, clean and organized - good message.

Speaking of front page material ... it seems that stuff would be better off on an "articles" page. It`s a bit long and random for the first thing I see.

I get that same unencrypted warning every time I click from page to page between your main navigation links, not just the store.  It also happens on some other pages as well.  Also, some links open up new windows, even bypassing my Firefox setting to open a new tab.  I don`t like that.

The main problem I see is that on the homepage, it doesn`t explain what JOYS is.  I had to click on the store and see the photos of the product just to get an idea of what you offer.

As far as the copy goes, I think you spend too much effort telling people WHY they need to get organized or what is wrong with poor organization.  Instead, you need to jump right away into what your products can do for someone.  I mean I know I need to be organized but how?  And I have trouble finding the answer.

Your products look very well designed (I like that).  I think you need to show an example on the homepage, and maybe every page.  Have a closeup of one of the files to show what people get.  I`d love to see a closeup of something to get a visual understanding of how you can organize my life.  I don`t think I`d buy it if I didn`t at least see a good solid sample.

And on your store page, you should have a brief description of each module so I know the basic of what each one is.

I`ve actually been thinking about finding something like this.  I could use a better system of organization outside of my computer (all the damn papers).  But quite frankly, I cannot tell from the site whether JOYS is good for me or not.  This is mainly because I can`t tell how the product works.  I think you need specific examples.

For example, I save a lot of receipts for tax purposes.  Just the other day after I filed my return, I rubberbanded the stack of receipts together with "2006" written on top and threw them in a drawer.  Got anything better?  Don`t just tell me that you do, rather tell me what it is and how it works!

Some problems:

The image "20.gif" does not appear (red X) on your "helpful-stuff" page.

When I click on the image for "supplement: family joys"  or any image (in your shop) a new window opens that is not wide enough to see all the content.  Also, the "kids_worksheets_sm.jpg" does not appear (red X).

The security information popup warning is annoying.  All your pages are in httpS:

Thanks all. The secure non secure  was an issue I thought was resolved, but I recently had my site reworked, so it needs to be readdressed.

Campsteve you said,
"Don`t just tell me that you do, rather tell me what it is and how it works!"

I thought I did that under Why Choose JOYS. It is a link on the home page.

I can`t believe I don`t show the files. What make JOYS so unique is that you can create a multitude of files using one system.  It seems so obvious. I need to work on that. First priority. Would it matter if it was photo or a graphic? or even flash that shows how you can create a variety of file for whatever you needs?

I find mostly that section to be "why" not "how".  The chart explains a little bit about the filing method but I still don`t understand HOW the system works.  What is the difference between an Important File and a Vital File?  I like the color-coded categories but then how do they work?  You show four file cabinets/boxes and the five categories.  Does each cabinet hold any number of the categories?  Or does one put all the aqua "everyday" stuff in the everyday file box?  What does each category provide me?  How does the red "important" label fit into the other colors or is it it`s own category?  I finally saw that you had some examples to click on and they look good and make sense.  One of the examples is a `work file` but then work isn`t listed in one of the five color-coded categories.  How and where does job related stuff fit into the system?  I think there are a lot of unanswered questions related to the JOYS system that the site does not explain.

Saying that it is simple, streamlined, insightful doesn`t tell me anymore about how it works.  It just tells me it`s good.  Nothing wrong with that but I think most people need more to go on.

I think you really need to break it down to people with clear examples.  I`m not suggesting getting into such fine detail that you give away the methods of organization that you want people to purchase.  But I am suggesting you spell out how it works.  Again, that is different than why someone needs it.

Hi,

Being that I`m a tad sleepy, I find the
font hard on my eyes being that it`s
small. I also noticed font inconsistant.
Example: Our Mission - Font is very
large.

I like the layout. I`d like to see your logo
and tag a bit larger. For them to demand
my attention when I open the site. They
blend in with the regular text.

Continue to make this an Awesome night!

Won`t Be Denied!

I think a big problem is that I read the how and why, but if I wasn`t doing this because you asked me to ... even if I probably need your product ... I wouldn`t have, as a customer. I would have clicked off.

You need to find a very clear and simple way to tell me to buy this product now before I screw up everything. Short. Sweet. Direct. Use some pictures. Right smack on the front page. Make me believe I need this more than I need air, food and water!

Ok, I have gone through the checklist and I think we have address many of the concerns noted here. If you have time I would appreciate your thoughts on the revisions. Thank-you so much for your insights!

Love the organization idea -- I`m a person who needs to be very organized (although you might not know it to see some of my stuff!).

I had a very difficult time with the gray lettering on the gray background.  Everything seems faded and tiring rather than soft or calming, if that was the effect you were trying to achieve.

I`d like to see some explanation of what to do on the little numbers -- it took me some time to realize I was supposed to "click here for valuable information".

The product and concept seem like something I need -- but why is everything so small?  Make your headings bigger and use less type.  Some of it seemed rather redundant, so perhaps you could lose some of it (text).

I viewed it on Firefox and I have dial up.  It took quite some time to load, although the basics loaded immediately.  I`ll look some more later -- right now I have to dash.  Hope this was helpful.  And, if you would, could you take a minute and check out my site www.YourSoothsayer.com.  I`d like your comments too!
