I’m gettin’ married!!

That means … Bachelor party!! And I’ve decided to invite the entire StartupNation community to join me!!

It will come as no surprise to y’all that my choice for a bachelor party is a baseball game. So here’s the scoop …

When: this coming Friday night July 21
What:
Detroit Tigers game at Comerica Park
Where (specifically): Section 338 in the Left Field Upper Deck
Details: Yes, it’s true. The entire stadium will be guys only. No chicks allowed! (OK, just our section will be guys only.  OK, just our row … )

Scoop: We’ll enjoy a Tigers game & then I’ll walk across some street or 2 to hang at a local watering hole for a bit.

Are you with me??

Joel

The rest of this post is just details:

It turns out that the Tigers are in a pennant race so tickets are not as plentiful as in years past. Here’s the scoop: I just bought myself a $12 single ticket in the Upper Level Leftfield. It happens to be Section 338 Row 7 Seat 11, but that detail is not important. Here’s the plan …

Rather than try to figure out who is going to the game & how many tickets we need, we’re treating this like we would if we were having the bachelor party at a bar or someone’s summer house at the shore or at the corner of 9th & Passyunk in South Philly – just show up if you wanna come! Buy your own ticket & let’s all gather together. Grab a ticket somewhere near section 338, or heck, buy yourself a fancy ticket behind home plate & make the journey up to the left field upper deck if you like … & then look for me! You can also call me on 248.430.1008 - my office line that`ll be forwarded to my cell. We’ll find a section of seats where no-one else is sitting & hang together.

Please know that this is NOT your traditional bachelor party. I will enjoy the game and those who join me, but drinking & baseball don’t mix, so the groom-to-be will be happy to enjoy a beer or so after the game at a local watering hole, but not during the game. Anyway, the beers at the stadium are EXTREMELY expensive! Feel free to have 1 or 2 yourself though.

To buy a ticket: Here’s what I did …

www.detroittigers.com & I found my way from there: you can try this link:  - just make sure it brings up the Tigers vs Oakland A’s July 21, and select a ticket from the Upper Reserved ($12) Upper Level Leftfield. It ought to give you a seat somewhere in sections 338 – 344. Just buy one & we’ll find each other. Note that this $12 ticket ended up costing me $22.35 after all the funky charges. I highly recommend selecting the TicketFast: NOW delivery option for a $2.50 charge. They send you an email with a pdf file of the ticket that you can print out, just like an airline ticket – pretty cool.

The game starts at 7:05pm. I’m really looking forward to playing my first game of “Mounds” – you’ll have to ask Chuck Fuller about how that works.

See you at the ballpark!!

Joel

Ah crap, I`d love to go Joel.
But one thing gets in my way to making it to Michigan... the state of Ohio. Which, as you all know, was designed to keep Detroit away from Pennsylvania.
Here`s wishing you a good one, though!

If theSwaynester did showup he`d be easy to spot. Evidently in PA everyone dresses like Elvis and carries a bowling ball, but in Detroit that`s rare.

Now Sway. I know how you think. (What`s that say about me?) Now that Joel has published his cell phone number, don`t you be calling him during the wedding (or the honeymoon for that matter) on the remote chance he forgot to shut it off.

Steve,

Upon further review, please note that I`ve made an adjustment in the publishing of my cell phone number. Good catch.

Oh, and I`m not at all surprised that theswaynester & you were the first to post responses. But you have nothing like his excuse.

Joel, what is it they say, "once on the internet always on the internet?" Besides some of us were quick enough to make note of it while it was there. As I recall from a recent blog, you just got new phones, so that number is good for at least a year, no?

Usually by game time we`re already in the bakery mixing up batches of dry ingredients for the next day`s baking. I`ll have to discuss with my business partner (aka wife) taking the scenic route via downtown Detroit. Since her beloved Red Wings failed to deliver when it really mattered, she might be persuaded to go see a Detroit team that is on a roll. Of course, the Wings led during the regular season too. (If we come I promise she`ll stay out of the "no chick" row, but I`m sure she`d love to meet some of these StartupNation people I`m always talking about. For that matter, so would I.)

As for Sway`s supposed excuse. I`ve always said "those who desire something badly enough will find a way; those who don`t will find an excuse."

Well, if you want me to come badly enough, you`ll find a way to come pick me up.
What time should I expect the gluten-libre bakery-mobile in central PA?

Throw in a stainless steel bowl for an 80 quart Hobart mixer I`d be there about noon Friday.

Joel:
Is it true that anyone with an eBay business is not allowed at the ballpark because your wife-to-be forbids shippers at your bachelor party?

That was so bad, it was good.

Swaynester,

It`s as true as the fact that the guys & gals who paint the white lines on the highway are not allowed.

No stripers.
