I remember learn somewhere how communication has started (electronicaly speaking).

The telegraph

Very short message, back and forth. Simple, but yet powerful.

Now, we fly in a deep-neverending sky of information, and yet, we need the right one. "Lost in the space" kind of thing.

What is this all about? Well, I need a Telegraphic Coach

What I mean is,  this is my situation:

* Brand New Solo Company with no background experience.

* Brand New Father (some little experience)

* Bugdet tight (same experience...so far)

* No time for personalized coach during the day. Yes I can attend (here is the telegram) emails very late at night, stealing time for sleep, and reply with enought details or to think about Coaching.

I need a coach that fit in this last 2 (two) points (*). Pay by telegram.

Is that possible?       (End Of Telegram)

:-) Sounds like a Life Coaching Forum of some kind, where people can post a problem, and have it solved at a different time, then the solution read at yet another time. Wasn`t that how Ann Landers` column worked?

(I made my research about who is Ann Landers first...I didn`t born in USA)

Well, kindof.

Writing and share common problems or challenge has a positive advantage.

In fact is what is all about here in SUN. Isn`t it?

However, might not have the same effect like person-to-person Coaching, but it could definitelly give some solutions for cases like mine.

I`ve got a personal Coach in my city, and sadly I couldn`t keep up for those 2 reasons: time & money. No matter rate were very fair.

Any suggestion are very welcome.

Thanks CraigL !!

This really is a pretty interesting idea. And by the way, you`re doing fine being outside the States. ;-)

We have Dr. Phil, you may have heard of him? He became popular on the Oprah Winfrey show (I`m sure you`ve heard of her! EVERYone`s heard of Oprah!). We also used to have on the AM talk radio, Dr. Laura Schlessinger.

Both these personalities offer personal advice on a commercial broadcast system. There`s not that much difference between the Web and a radio station, excepting the text and typing.

I wonder if it would work? You wouldn`t be able to get more than 1 question in at a time, but that`s how the Dr. Laura show worked. Callers would call in, state their moral problem, and ask questions. She would then give them an answer.

Hm....so there`d be some sort of managed forum, I suppose. People could write in (post) their concern and ask a question, and the online coach would then respond. The big issue would be how does the coach or team of coaches make money?

Still....an interesting thing. One of our members set up the Advisor Garage, and makes money through subscriptions. I think a life coaching forum could probably do something similar. Or...better yet, anyone could post a problem and get a single answer. But if they wanted more personalized, direct help, THEN they would subscribe?

I`ll have to think on it some more. :-) Maybe we`ll get some other people into the discussion....

Well, one idea could work like this, maybe:

A person get one advise at a time, as you said (at the time coach can answer, giving priority to those who pay a monthly fee).

Then if that person feels the coach goes in his/her direction (means actually the coach helps him/her with the advise) then the person would be highly motivated to keep the Coach consulting more often, because he/she is growing, so they will be happy to pay the Coach to work a little `closer` (obviously more email frequency).

Grow is what all of us we are looking for. And it must, in its esence, keep doing it all the time. It could be a lifetime relationship. Like any relationship has in common, that mutual benefit of grow and expand.

That would work, I think.

Specially if the Coach get enough email (Coach got famous let say) some volume of `free` emails would lead on some `monthly-payment` emails.

Coach can also give some affordable rate for the volume of jobs the internet gives them. Without compromise the quality of the coaching session that can compete effortlessly with others coachs.

That`s how sales work anyway.

Let me tell you CraigL, this is actually happen, by phone, many Coachs and Coach Companies are giving coach thru phone to distant customers for a montly fee or a prepaid fee for x times of coach advise.

Sometime people asociate that giving something for free means being stupid, how far they are from reality! isn`t it?

I do it all the time and keep me in the good track. You are doing it now also maybe without noticing it.

What I mean, I give my customer or potential customer (those `free` emails?) an advise about what I do, computers and stuff, including some other ideas no necessarily related to those.

And they are happy to get me around. So they start unconsiously need me for ...computer.

Think this is not a trap, all the opposite (sorry for my English),

I give sincerely deep advise from my heart, for free and not thinking never-ever in that INEVITABLE fruit it will give me anyway. However I get not only more jobs, I gain new friends or any type of new relationships, I gain advise also from them in other areas they are expert. I gain a lot in many ways.

Because I love to help people. So the universe give you that win-win circle.

If you think only on money, that`s only what you get, nothing else, nothing more, the challenge is not everybody is looking for the same and your circle will be small.

Sorry I got inspired like Aristoteles sometime.

LOL!! :-D Hey...there`s nothing wrong with passion! And inspired discussion always helps. Your English is plenty good enough to get across your points, and that`s what matters...right?

I take your point about how being passionate about a topic creates a natural "spin-off" of advice or help without concerns for money. I also agree with you that the universe always strives for balance, like most forms of energy.

It seems to me there`s a natural association between life coaching and phones, email, forums, and other verbal communication media. So we`ll see what happens. After all, look at that "Psychic Hotline," which also helps people remotely with advice. (Quite a different basis, but similar in that communication method.)
