I keep reading everywhere that your description in the provisional application must explain not only how to use the invention, but how to make the invention as well?? Since I`m not an engineer or a manufacturer, how detailed can I possibly get? And how much detail is actually necessary? I`m concerned that I might not be as protected as I think. Help!

did you file it already without having a patent attorney involved?

No I had an attorney review my application and nothing was mentioned. Its just that the more research I do on my own, the more I am unsure. Is there any guidelines you can help me with as far as the "how its made" section?

If the attorney was not a patent attorney, he did you no favors.

The attorney was a patent attorney that was referred to me by a friend. I`m not an attorney though so I`m not sure if care was taken to get that section right. Does anyone with any experience in  provisionals know what exactly they are looking for when they ask to describe how its made?
