Hey guys, 

I'm attempting to start my own blog, and turn it into a youtube channel. Not too sure how much you guys know about with that type of business, but there is money to be made and I want to make sure I am doing it legit. 

I have a name, but I don't know if I can use it. If I can use it, how to I secure the business name for myself so nobody else can take it?

I did do google searches, but I have no prior knowledge going into this so my results confused me a bit. If someone would wrap up an answer in plain language I'd appreciate it!

Has the URL that you would use (i.e. the name) already been taken? If it's free, just buy it and then you're set. You can also patent the name, here you go for references: http://www.ehow.com/how_5167606_patent-name-logo.html

But in the case of a website, I'm not really sure it's worth the red tape work, unless you're absolutely sure it's going to be booming and that you'll have everybody trying to get a piece of it. But honestly, with a YouTube website, I don't think it'll be the case. Spare yourself the drama... :)
