I think, in some way, calling it a lens is a good idea .. it makes you FOCUS and shorten your text, instead of going on for pages. (Less is more.)

That`s the whole concept. You have a page. Keep it simple!

I definitely agree with you about the simplicity, but what is "it"?  It took me some time to understand the kind of text that is suitable for a "lens".  A blog entry can be simple.  But from what I understand, a "lens" is an expert article - a specific kind of a blog entry.  That was and is my problem with the term "lens".  The focus part of the squidoo is conveyed by the term, but not the expert part.  Even your postings on squidoo do not mention about it.  Or maybe the expert part is assumed by most people except me.  Or maybe the expert part is not necessary a part of the lens; instead only the simplicity is...

The idea is that "Everyone is an Expert" at something. It`s the foundation for the creation of Squidoo.

You are sharing your knowledge in this abridged format in the lens. It`s .. the cliff notes version.

I like lenses because they make people focus their text the way copywriting should be - not a long, wordy paragraph, but in lists, bullets, snippets, graphics, and links.

It took me some experimentation to even figure out what goes best in a blog entry ...

I think, especially if you are making lenses about topics you are involved with in your business, the lens is a good chance to practice your copywriting, and practice different kinds of copywriting, to see if you get different responses. It is ... free testing, if you will. And then you take that practice and that testing ... plus your Squidooed Google Boost ... and apply your new knowledge of focus to your own site.
