This is indeed a problem.  If a company has a name like newsfeed that is trademarked and then you start a business called Food Newsfeed and buy that domain name, can Newsfeed come after you when your business is not similar to them or is so generic that anyone can end up with that end name?

Can they force you to hand over the domain name?  I think that is unfair (the domain name part), since you are not cybersquatting, but purchased the name to do business.  What are the laws on this, or is it too new to really figure out who has a right to what, and how it is determined?

So many conflicting answers guys.

That`s because the people dispensing the advice aren`t experts in trademark law. Talk to a trademark attorney about this. Better safe than sorry.

Or simply register the trademark yourself.  You don`t need a lawyer to register the trademark - you can do it yourself at: http://www.uspto.gov/go/tac/doc/basic/

If you want to make sure that all the legal speedbumps are covered, then LegalZoom can help you.

Then, there`s Nolo Press.
