I found startupnation through itunes podcasts and get lots from listening.

I have been researching, participating in business forums and expos and consulting for several months on starting-up. The idea of running my own business has been a perrennial dream for several years but have never had the funds or the contacts to make it happen.

I finally got that opportunity when, through friendly local suppliers, I decided to create a website and online shop, a lowcost adventure I could budget into my personal monthly expenses.

After almost 4 years, I am making the leap to add production unit and brick-and-morter to the equation. Yesterday I handed in my completed business plan for review and approval for solliciting funding.

Wishing all of us a prosperous 2007!

Steve,

Well I`ll kindly send a "noob" welcome out to you also.

SUN needs a "introduce yourself" section. No?

Hi Armymom.

Seems the SUN "noobs" are flourishing. Too bad for the veterans.

Hi and welcome!

Took a quick look at your site, looks good. One comment on the front page, you come across as a tourist :-)

You have this product highlighted "Albornoz rizo americano Leopardo" in Castillian (the real name of the Spanish language) the word Americano does not indicate US origin for that the word is Estadounidense `Americano` stands for American (from the American continent) much in the same way you understand European (from the European continent). Most (if not all) native speakers that don`t know English will misunderstand your intent, most that know English will know you are translating the word not the meaning. When we translate we must `interpret` the author`s intent. For instance, if I say "She is so cool" and translate that to Castillian without interpreting it would be "Ella es tan fria" translated back into English it becomes "She is so cold", as you can see something got lost in the translation ... but I digress.

Nice site, well done, Good luck!

Hi. My name is Kim. I am new to this site and to running my own business.

As I said in my profile, I thought for many years that I wanted to be a lawyer. After working in the legal profession for more than a decade, I realized that I just couldn`t do it any longer.

I spent the next 10 years doing the most important job there is: being a stay-at-home mom. Once my kids got older and more independent, I started looking into new career ideas for myself. I tried interior design and even sold real estate. However, in the back of my mind, I kept thinking about returning to the two things I loved since I was a kid: photography and writing.

I`ve done a lot of freelance writing and even had some of my articles published in an entrepreneurial corporate magazine and online. I`m currently working on a book deal as well. This last year, I decided to take the plunge and start my own photography studio. A good friend of mine once said that pursuing the arts would likely never make me rich, but I`d probably have a wonderful life doing it. I agree with that wholeheartedly. The truth is, it`s not about the money for me. It never was.

I have been reading the forums here, off and on, for a few months and finally decided to join. I`m glad I did. There are a lot of talented people represented here. This site is a wonderful resource. I look forward to getting to know many of you.

Welcome Noobs,

Gonink, CampSteve, armymom2025, and Kbphoto!  Hope I didn`t miss anyone!

I`ve been here since last spring and would definitely spend more time here if I could.  I can honestly say that any time I have spent here, has been very valuable.  You can`t visit without learning at least one thing new or without getting inspired to do something new!
