Don and Joyce Harvey of Muldrow, Oklahoma won last week`s  $105.8 million Powerball  jackpot.

The Harvey`s said they will pay off bills, help family members and think about buying a new home with their winnings. They chose to receive a $33.3 million lump sum after taxes instead of the full amount paid out over 29 years.

Which begs the question: If you won the lottery, what would you do?

Probably have a heart attack.  Then my kids would inherit it!

Seriously, though, I`d try to find an unoccupied island for sale and build a nice big tree house like in Swiss Family Robinson.

CrossCountry, now that sounds like an interesting and fun way to spend your money - although, since you`d be rich, wouldn`t it be a tree mansion?

Well, perhaps.  But I`m really a simple person and don`t need much.

The rest of the money would probably go towards a couple of Sea Doos, , a boat to get us to the mainland for supplies, an unlimited supply of fuel , several pair of hiking boots, and a couple of horses ~ or we could just ride the zebras like the Robinsons did.

Yeah, I hear you. I`m the same way, I don`t need much either. I`m really not big on material possessions anyway.

The one thing I would definitely do is build a bunch of homeless shelters and Food Pantries. I came from poverty, and I`ve been very blessed, financially speaking, so I appreciate everything that I have today.

Now I just want to give something back.

I have mixed views on the homeless situation but expressing them would probably get something political going.

Let`s suffice it to say that I would do the same thing in a heartbeat if there were some sort of guarantee that people wouldn`t content themselves to simply exist on others` generosity.

I`m more inclined to donate to animal shelters that spay and neuter ALL adoptions and wildlife conservation.

Oh, I definitely feel the same way as you do regarding the homeless situation. But there are special homeless shelters that will help their residents get a job and then an apartment. Iin other words, give them a hand in becoming productive citizens.

In fact, there`s a shelter like that here in my area. They not only build shelters, they build apartment buildings as well. And from what I`ve been seeing on the local news, its been a triumphant success!

Hi all,

If I won the lottery, I would meet with a tax attorney and a financial planner.

I guess since I have a plan, I won`t win.

oh, Well....

Happy 4th to all.

I would pay my bills, take care of my sisters` bills, set aside a trust fund for my baby girl, and provide more groceries for Nevada Safe Place (it helps homeless youth under age 18).  I would build lovely apartment complexes with all the amenities, including child care and a job training facility.  And then I would rent them to residents of battered women`s sanctuaries.  The rent would be graduated $2/week the first month. $5/week the second month.  $10 per week the third month.  They can live there for 2 years as long as they remain clean from drugs and and get training in a field.
