I think the question is if he is going to get a million hits in a month by taking out newspaper ads, say he sends his ad to every newspaper in each city that is a couple hundred of million potential people seeing it, now if only 1 million go to the site per month, what is the best way to make money? i would say offer something whether it be information , whatever your sites about and hopefully it is not just a made for adsense site, or landing page, but adsense or something similar should work best, less work involved, don`t sell anything that you have to ship yourself maybe do amazon reseller with adsense should work good.

It sounds like you`re asking for how to make one time money. If that`s true then CPA netwroks aree where you want to look. Try to narrow your demographics down a bit. Tastless and tacky will bring a differrent person that timeless and classy.

If you`re looking to make long-term money without building a product of your own then you need to do an e-mail capture or get offers from sites that provide reocurring revenues. Like monthly membership sites.

If you want to build a business then you need to make sure that your marketing and business target the same demographic.

Hope that heps,
Doug

Whether or not you can compell people to click further (i.e. affiliate ads) or actually type in their credit card number (i.e. buy something), probably the most valuable opportunity is to capture visitor emails (with an autoresponder) - here`s where you offer them "the rest", or "more of what you`ve come to see" by a compelling sign-up form...Then, over time, you may be able to convert the opt-ins to actually continue clicking for you, or pay for something somewhat relevant to the original content.  Perhaps whatever it is everyone`s coming to see, will come again next month?  And you need to be a subscriber to get it?  Build an active email list, and advertisers will beat a path to your door.

After reading this whole thread it got me to thinking about the one that said a "one time thing".  What if you worked really, really hard for a short period of time, would it be possible if you advertised in every kind of form all at once, had a decent product that would sell to even 1% of the people, to make enough money to pay all your expenses, taxes, etc., put the rest in the bank and live off the interest?  Saying you would like to make about $50,000/year?  Just hypothetical, but got me to thinking.
