HELP NEEDED
I need to find a business to start in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Working with people is not me.
Alot of people do not know how to talk to their workers. And I am one who do not like being shout at for no reason. I have agreed and so have some other people that I was not born to work with other people.

I tought of a chocolate store but the process of making chocolate from scratch is a lond and tedious one (that is my idea of it).

I am still thinking of other ideas but I am kinna stucked.

Okay, so what do you have in your locale that few other people have? Long ago, you would have been very limited to a marketplace within miles of your area. But nowadays, with e-commerce and the Internet, your market is the whole world.

Here`s an example of my thinking: Suppose you live in Illinois, US and you like scuba diving. There aren`t a whole lot of places to enjoy that hobby. As such, when you shop for equipment, it`s usually only new, hard to find, and so forth.

But suppose you live in Florida, US. There are all sorts of scuba places, and lots of used equipment. If your business was limited to selling used scuba gear in your local area, that`s one thing. But selling used scuba gear around the world, you now can open up a market in Illinois.

Same situation here: what do you have in abundance, that people in other areas of the world a) might like to have, and b) can`t find easily at all?

I know I see a lot of conch shells, decorated or otherwise, sold as knick-knacks. If you were "the place" to go for conch shell planters, decorations, vases, and so forth, your business would depend on a ready (and constant) supply of conch shells. Do you have anything like that...something natural, particular to your area, that`s in an abundant supply?

Do you want to make something, assemble something, or sell something someone else makes? Do you have an abundant supply of items people in your area make that are unique or highly unusual? You could be a distributor and sales outlet for local products.

If you have money to invest, you might consider tourism and visitors. That might lead to a hotel, B&B, or unusual "adventure" vacation concept.

Ultimately, it comes down to what do you know, what`s your expertise and background, and what skills do you have?

Main Common Niches For Your Home Based Business by Floyd Smith

More people are now looking for ways to make money online with a home based business. For those starting out, it can be very challenging to actually decide the type of home based business to start.

The main objective is to identify a profitable niche for the home based business. For your online home based business to succeed, you will need to have some good market for it, so it is important that you target a niche for which there is a huge demand which also has potential to grow in the future.

Besides the fact mentioned above, there are also several other factors that are important during your decision making process. It is a good idea to start your online home based business in a niche or topic that is of interest to you. Your home based business is not supposed to be another `job` - which means you must enjoy it and you must want to be doing it in the long term. So, defining your interests and matching them to your business is recommended. So what are the main niche ideas which you can focus on with your home based business?

· Health. Many people want to be in good health, and in recent years, this has been a rapidly growing niche. Your online home based business can offer dieting products and plans, nutrition supplements, disease prevention, or vitamins, among others possible products. You just have to do your research and find the popular products and diet plans which you can promote. You will also need to make sure that the commission structures for the products you choose to sell are appealing to you.

· Personal development. More people are searching for ways to develop their lives - financially, personally or in their businesses. Your home based business could focus on niches about personal development, achieving their goals, and helping people achieve their maximum potential.

· Wealth and home businesses. By setting up your own home business, you can help others looking for options for having a home based business. You could be an affiliate with various programs for earning money at home. The options are plenty - you just have to choose which business opportunities you would like to promote.here is a good one

I think it's better if you were to get familiarize with the local business environment before you start a business in a country alien to you.

I don't know the Caribbean but in Central America the most popular businesses for expatriates are:

  1. Restaurant/Specialty Food
  2. Hotel/Hospitality/Tourism
  3. Internet Cafe

Of course, some some people actually do manage to telecommute online or start their own online business.  Others are more creative or use specialties that they have built from being in the States.

Good Luck!

Hi Solace, for people like you and me too it is important that we find something that is of complete interest. Probably that is the key to our success as well. Do what interests you and makes you feel good about doing that kind of work. May be you can open a flower shop in St. Vincent. I'm not aware of your likes and dislikes so I cannot recommend a particular business.

Hi Solace, i am originally from St. Vincent myself and can certainly understand the way you feel. I don't live there but will like t own a business there.  I think there are quite a few ideas out there but it depends on what you like or interested in.  I think a sports bar with an outdoors setting will be great, especially with the new airport.  You know how it gets in St.Vincent after 6pm with not much to do.  You can introduce this idea with live music, drinks and food like fried chicken, some breadfruit and saltfish, or even some kind of soup.  You are in thr right place to start a new business, and if you need a partner, i am here.  kfjblack@gmail.com.
