Hello all together,

I`m thinking about a website where you can choose, select and order food from typical restaurants in your city in a covenient manner. Especially from restaurants which usually don`t offer delivery (only take-out). Those restaurants could be the one you usually go out for dinner, but sometimes you don`t like to go out to the restaurant, but you like to have that great food.

I´m not talking about the "typical" restaurants which deliver (dominos etc.). It could be your favourite restaurant!

What Do you think about that? Does something like this already exist?

I really appreciate your opinion and help!!

P.S. I`m from Germany...

Thats a great idea . Infact people are using online food ordering more and more these days. i know about a website http:/www.merosys.com which offers online food ordering system to restaurants. The site can be useful to you as it can provide you all the information regarding an efficient online food ordering system.

Delivery.com is doing this. Others are trying but logistics are a sticking point. How many delivery drivers will you need to cover a big city when any one of 100 restaurants will need food delivered.
Not trying to discourage you because I think if you can figure out the logistics you will have a successful business.

One way to get into this type of business is to start with one city and have a site where a customer can go online and do a search for a certain type of food (pizza, burgers, etc) from there they can enter their zip and a list of restaurants that offer delivery to their area will show up. They should be able to place the order on your site. Your site will then send the order to the restaurant for delivery. You keep a percentage of the food bill.

Its a simple concept but its not being done well yet.

Good luck.

great idea in theory. i can`t tell you how many times i have needed one!!!!

so many times our time is just too precious to dress up and take a hike (competing priorities i.e. working at home on our websites).

the main challenge as pointed out by many is definitely covering ground (how many drivers?), getting the restaurant price discount buy in (so that you can profit) and logistical matters (timeliness, customer satisfaction etc).

i will tell you though that if there was such service in my area i would definitely utilize it quite a bit!

This is an insightful topic. Now, in 2009, this kind of online food ordering websites have been operating here and there. In Vancouver BC Canada, Yummy Republic is the one that offers free service to customers who place order on http://yummyrepublic.ca The people living in Vancouver are able to order take-out online delivered home. It`s awesome.

In today's demanding world, more and more people are turning to the web for simple ways to order food from their favorite restaurants. If you are a business owner and don't have your own website, there is a good opportunity you are losing business to your competitors. In addition, having a website does not promise that you will get the desired users coming to your site and this is where eatonline, an expert on online restaurant menus  and online ordering can help.

In my opinion it's a good service  that is been started in food industry however there are some issues of late service and bad quality but there are some good stores and restaurants which are delivering this service actively and efficiently to the customers

Grubhub and Seamless are two sites that already exist with this concept in mind. However, you may start this business as its still new and less competitive. I would suggest you to offer a different variety of food like chinese, continental, Indian etc.

To start this business you need a website where customers can place an order by paying online. An online payment gateway would be needed to process the payments online and a fast website would be needed to enable customers choose their menu easily.
