I am interested in opening an ice cream parlor/ eatery in my area. I think with the summer months uproaching us that I would get some great business, after all who doesn`t like ice cream and with the on the go lifestyle we are all leading everybody eats out once in a while.   I was wondering, for all you seasoned entrepeneurs out there who have brick-n-morytar business, did you find it hard to find a location for your business`?  Is there lots of red tape you have to cut through?

I don`t have an answer to your question (sorry) but I do have kudos for your idea!

I know, in our area of Southern California, we have run out of places to have kids birthday parties.

Remember Farrell`s? (Please tell me you were alive then.)

Add a nice arcade with ice cream parlor/crazy candy store and you have an instant hit on your hands.

Best of luck!

I remember Farrell`s :)

For an ice cream parlor or small eatery, I think some of your best places, for a location would be where you get a lot of foot traffic  Main Street in your town if it brings people.  Other great locations, are tourist areas, if your close to any.  Big corporate, office building complexes would probably work too.  I`m sure it would all depend on how much you wanted to spend on a lease.

I just helped a young lady start a cupcake / coffee business. This is her forth week and she is setting the town on fire. I am a little skeptical of a Ice Cream business. There has been several close down in our area lately. If I were you I would really do some research before you get started. Have you a business plan? What is your break even point?

No it is not hard to find a place for your business but you need your financials in place a business plan and more importantly a marketing plan before you look for a location.
I would be glad to help if you need it.

hello

Research is the best way before you do your thing, you research on your area, you research on your consumers.Who is the target really? The success of your shop will depend on your location mostly, if the location is bad then there`s no boost for that, but you can do ice cream stands though, on the beach, on the park.. look for areas where there are really people coming in and out...

Goodluck!
