Hello, all my name is Shareka and I new to the board and I came here for help with resources and advice on starting a business. My boyfriend is trying to start his own shoe selling company and we are having the hardest time trying to come up with a name for the company. I am not a very creative person but everything that I`ve come up with it is already taken so if anyone has any suggestions I will definitely appreciate it. PLEASE HELP ME!!!

What`s the location of your business? Is it in the US? If so, whereabouts---what city or twn, and in what state? If not, what country?

Hello Reka83 and Welcome!
In addition to Craig`s questions, what is the niche? Is it mens, womens, kids, high end, lower price, etc... what EXACTLY is the kind of shoe store he is going to open?

Grill beat me to the punch. :-)

Another question is, "Where will the store be located?"  A mall might regulate what you can call your store.  A city might or might not care.  Also, names that start with A get sorted to the beginning of the yellow pages, if that matters to you.

Many of us here have excess creativity and love to help.  How about a quick contest?  Winner gets a cup of coffee or a shoe shine or something?

I agree with others that your target market will help you come up with store name.   Who are you trying to attract to this store to buy shoes?   The name you`d use for young trendy customers would be different from the name you`d use to attract affluent professinals.
Look at other successful shoe retailers and the names they use.   I think we`d all be doing better giving you ideas if you could explain the marketing concept behind the store.

My two cents?  What is unique about him and the business that stands out from competitors?

A play on words can be catchy or a one-word term, like Laces.

Hope this helps.  Look forward to hearing what you decide on.

Best,

Jennifer

Well, first of all I would like to thank everyone for their advice. The shop will be located in Jax, FL and he will be selling basically sneakers for everyone women, men, children, and infants. There will be higher price shoes that he wants to sell for a lower price. He`s trying to attract everybody of all ages to his shop. I just want to help him as much as possible because I don`t want him to fail.

hmm.... how about "The Comfort Zone" (that one may be trademarked by someone else, though).....

What are some other words and terms for "sneakers," that maybe people in the area would relate to?
