I coach small business entrepreneurs and corporate professionals with a focus on moving them to their next level, and achieving ambitious goals and positive change. I`m fairly "web-savvy" and I get a decent amount of traffic to my site (www.instepcoaching.com), which was designed professionally. The problem is, I`m not getting the level of consult requests that I`d expect from this level of traffic. I don`t think that there are design issues so perhaps it`s content. In any event, what do you think? Oh, and I have thick skin, so don`t hold back!!...

I think the design itself looks professional. No complaints about it.

My question for you is, where is your traffic coming from? SEO? PPC? Word of mouth? This might have some effect on your conversions. Also, depending on where you are getting your traffic from may affect how you design your landing pages so they are tuned for conversions.

For example, if you are using Pay-Per-Click advertising, you`d want to remove the top navigation so as not to distract the user. You`d want the page solely tuned for conversions and nothing else, since you are paying for every click.

Another thing you should consider is what is the norm conversion rate for your industry, given your channels of online advertising? Is your conversion rate above, below or at norm? If it below, then this would suggest there is something you need to change. But if it is at or above norm, your probably aren`t doing anything "wrong". But that also doesn`t mean you shouldn`t try to continually improve.

Finally, the single best way to know for sure if your copy is optimized for conversions is to test variations of the copy and web page. Sure, we can give you our honest opinions, but nothing will give you more accurate suggestions than actual user interaction with your site. Go to Google Website Optimizer, and set up some Website A/B testing to see which versions convert more.

Best of luck!

Hi Dave,

I took a look at your website.  It does cover the basics about you and your practice but does not give any value added information to the client.  I would consider writing a few free white papers that the client can download which will give them solutions to specific problems that they may encounter.

By giving a little away I think you stand to build a lot of goodwill and that often turns into business.  I have had folks call me just from reading my postings!

Good luck.

My main question is who is your actual target market? How much annual revenue does a company have to be bringing in to fit into your expected set of entrepreneurs?

All of the input here is wonderful, so I won`t add to their questions. Just looking at your home page, it seems to me that the most important part of your letter is buried:

"When was the last time you had someone troubleshoot your ideas? Who do you turn to when you need to strategize on your most important priorities? Is someone helping you reach your goals? "

These questions can help me realize a lack that YOU could fill. Why chance that I will continue reading through your letter to get there?

Site looks good.  Add a testimonial to the front page.

Hi, Dave-

I like the look of the site.. A couple of thoughts-

- If I was looking up a consultant or coach, I think I`d type in Phoenix Business Coach or consultants. I didn`t se that in your keywords

- I like the idea by Just 250 about testimonials

- You may want to consider some article marketing to get your site out there

Finally- I wonder how many consults consultants get from web visitors- that may be more of an intimate service-

Thanks
Steve

Thank you Steve.

When I search in Yahoo using the term Phoenix Business Coach, I`m currently on the first page at number 4. When I do the same in Google, I`m at number 1 & 2 on the first page. I think I can ensure that with the keyword fix that you suggest, and I need to redo my keyword stuff anyway since I`ve recently changed/added some site pages.

With regard to article marketing, I did that early in my career, and found it effective. It`s another spoke in the marketing wheel.

Finally, I`m not sure what consult results others get from their sites, but by adding/adjusting what you and others have recommended, it may help my numbers.

Having said that, what I`m seeing that I`ve always known is this - face-to-face marketing is so much more effective for me, even as I wish that a website, blogging, facebook, twitter, linkedin, internet radio show, posts on other blogs, profiles on business sites, article distribution.....blah, blah, blah.... would do it for me. Bottom line...internet marketing is wayyyyyyyy overrated...

Face-to-face/ What about a video of you speaking? Better yet, a vlog.

I know several coaches that get amazing results from twitter, when they have taken the time to interact.

Yes, a video has been suggested, so I may do that. And when I say face-to-face, I mean - get out and meet people. There is no substitute!

Thanks again!
