I just started a new internet business called Synergy Beads, which sells hip unisex bracelets that are gearded to a mind, body, spirit crowd and incorporates sustainable materials and practices as well.  I am looking for advice on how to best gain visibility and attract customers.  I have a Google and Facebook ad.  The Google one is not working so well.  The Facebook ad is directing some traffic to the site.  Any advice from other successful eco-friendly business owners would be VERY helpful!  My budget is quite small at the moment.

Hy SynergyMan,

I would start by changing the background color on your web site.  There have been studies done on colors and which colors evoke a sense of tranquility.  You might also see what an add in a local publication would cost.

SynergyMan,
I always counsel my clients to go where their target market is.  At this point, to save yourself money and time, you should create a strategy that focuses on getting to the people who are the most interested in your type of product/site.  The Google ads are probably somewhat targeted, but there is a lot of competition.  Your Facebook ads are not being targeted at all I`m guessing, so you may not be getting many conversions.

Start by understanding who your target market is, and that will help you in creating a stronger strategy.

Feel free to use some of the tools on www.mymarket-ease.com to assist you.

Good luck.

Hello SynergyMan,

I have been away for a few weeks which is why I just read about your business. It sounds exciting to me because I am also into things ecofriendly. I have lived this way for a long time and recently decided to make it my business. My website was recently finished. I decided to have it created by a company that I could have the option of working with or not. It would be great if you could check out my site and tell me what you like and don`t like. Going back to my suggestion,I don`t have alot of money to start out with either. I found them to not only be the best price around, but, you can also save more by choosing to do some of the work along with their professional suggestions. If you have a minute and can look at my website, I would appreciate it-- www.soontobegreen.com  Also, Searchlight Co. site is www.igetthenet.com
Let me know how it goes.

I also just launched an eco friendly store (selling organic clothing and accessories) so I have also been looking for the best places for marketing. What has worked for me is advertising on eco blogs and getting listed with eco directories. A few good eco business directories include www.ecomall.comwww.happyhippie.com andwww.greenpeople.org. You can also have eco  bloggers do reviews of your products and offer gift card giveaways. I tried google adwords and yahoo search marketing but did not have any luck with those. Like Melissa said before, go where the target market is.

Hi Synergy Man,

First i love your product, great idea!

For visibility well you can maybe start by placing brochures in places your target market might be hanging out. You may want to try also going to different expo and have someone go to each booths and introduce the product.

I have a few comments on your site though. First you might want to reconsider changing the look and feel of the website. Although I believe you're aiming to give your site a Zen feel, I think you (or your designer) can come up with a much effective and eye catching site. You may want to check http://templatemonster.com for some design ideas.

More power and hope I was able to help.
