element fusion, which makes a create collection of online webbuilding, formbuilding and emailbuiling services, called water, light, and breeze faced something similar. (breeze.com was taken, etc)

so they paired each with a verb (embracewater, feelbreeze, etc).

37signals did a little appending for their products as well (backpack is backpackit.com, basecamp is basecamphq.com)

using your SingIt.com example, singitoutloud, singitloud, singittogether (social network implication) and brand the heck out of it.

People will hear your company name ("sing it") and try to go to the dot com version, that`s just conditioning/expectations. But with  a real effort on branding, you can hook your name with an extra meme that`ll help folks remember you.

Kathy, Thanks for the suggestion. The name "Sing It" was simply an example, not the actual company or domain name that I`ll be using, so variations on that particular domain name are not what I`m looking for.

Mike, Yes, that`s what I`m going for. Using my name/phrase within another context that can be easily branded. That`s why I had originally chosen the "i<statement>.com" domain, because it worked in so many ways.

Steve, Yes, I`ve looked at the GoDaddy suggestions a number of times (hoping for new inspiration), but to no avail.

Thank you all for your suggestions! I think you`ve confirmed for me that I`ve got the second-best domain name for this business. Now that I feel secure in having it, I`ll tell you that the business is "Gather No Moss" and the domain that I have is iGatherNoMoss.com. No content yet, but soon.

And now that you all know the actual company name, are there any other suggestions? :)

Yes, secure similar names.  You may also want the .info version if you plan to do a blog later.

My guess is that you are not doing something similar to what people find at "gathernomoss.com"....  if that is the case, perhaps you could get the owner of "gathernomoss.com" to put a link to your site (such as "Did you mean iGatherNoMoss.com?") in exchange for the same near the top on yours....

Honestly though... if you start generating big bucks from the new site (and I hope you do) you could buy the domain you really want...  (Did you at least make an offer for it?)

Regards,
Charlie
