Ken,
From our experience - the first step is be Capital Ready. By that I mean that everything is in place and you are prepared to handle all the steps that follow.
Since you specifically mention "getting their attention"; as a general comment, I`d say - have a well thought out plan that is powerfully presented to the "right" places. Somewhat like fishing - if your not catching anything -you may be using the wrong bait or fishing in the wrong pond (or both).

If you`d like to discuss the specifics of your situation, send me a PM or contact me directly using robert@bizgrowthmasters.com

Ken, the concept of having a motorized beach wagon that will carry all your stuff from your car to the beach sounds certainly appealing; however, how do you get this monster into your car, and thus close to the beach?

What’s more, some cities/counties ban any kind of motorized vehicles on their beaches!

Having said that, your customers will need to live within walking distance to the beach, which significantly reduces the number of customers you can possibly reach with your product.

I’m down here in Miami, FL so I could imagine that your wagon may appeal to hotels that don’t have direct beach access, and thus, they could rent this out to some of their guests, but in general I think your market will be rather limited.

I hope this helps.

Mark,
I suppose I have not emphesized enough on the website all design aspects & uses of Coolerwagon. Let me just say this, Last July my family of 4 went on vacation in our Ford Escape (compact SUV if you want to call it that). We took with us: 4 pieces of luggage, all the kids beach toys, food & all items needed to stay in a rented house, 4 beach chairs, ice chest, beach towels, boogie board and yes..the wagon you see in the videos.
Point is, the wagon is travel friendly- it fits where no other wagons can.

Ok, on marketabilty, when we first concieved the idea, going to the beach was really the only problem we were trying to solve. However, since the development of Coolerwagon we have relized many potential markets such as home & garden, hunting, camping, swapmeets/carshows, picnics...

One last point, their has not been one person that hasn`t said "what a great idea"..
When we did our marketing video last year we were just amazed how people migrated around us as we were showing this product. If I had 20 wagons made, I probably could have sold them all that day.

Ken, I can certainly appreciate your passion and enthusiasm, but let’s face it how many times a year do you really go to the beach? Even in the event you are a frequent beachgoer like yourself, is it really likely that people will buy a bulky 4x4 hand wagon just to carry their stuff from the parking lot to the beach on these rather rare occasions?

I’m not disputing that your coolerwagon may attract a small crowd, but even if you sold 20 wagons on the spot, it still won’t amount to a scalable investment opportunity.

If I were you, I’d be looking very hard at alternative sales channels. Think photo/video/film production companies, just to give you an example.

As far as financing is concerned, put them up for sale on your website and ask that people to pay in advance or pay at least a deposit of 50% of the purchase price. Make them wait for 2-3 weeks and use their money to get their coolerwagons built.

If this doesn’t work, although I can’t think of anything why it wouldn’t, go to your bank and get your purchase orders financed. Depending on how many purchase orders you got, factoring may become an alternative option later on.

I hope this helps.

Mark,
Yes, all your comments help. I am well aware of the many obsticles that exist to make this venture happen. I am a firm believe that if its meant to be it will, and as long as I feel the passion I will continue my efforts to commercialize this product.
Thanks
