Hi SuN Members...

My product, SmudgeGuard (SG) has taken on new markets, so my existing tagline of "Never get smudges again!" isn`t ideal anymore.

Originally, SG, was made for left-handed people to eliminate smudges when writing and drawing.

Then, sketch artists were included because I found out they had the same problem when drawing or sketching.

Later, Calligraphers used SG so that they won`t soil the paper with their oily, sweaty hands.

Now, Tablet PC users wear it to get rid of the smudges from their sweaty hands and to also allow their hand to glide easier without the hand friction.

Lastly, Wacom tablet users, wear SG so that their hand can glide more easily on the plastic surface making it easier for them to write or draw.

I was brainstorming for a tagline and I came up with this.

SmudgeGuard

GLIDE EASIER

(without the sweat and smudges!)

So, do you think it fits well with my product? If not, I am open to any suggestions.  I was trying to think of something memorable that rhymes like the routisserie chicken`s tagline: "Set it and Forget it!" But couldn`t think of anything good. So I need some of SuN`s great brainpower at this point.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Jeannie

"Glide easier" sounds like it`s a variation of WD-40. LOL!! :-) C`mon...we`ve GOTTA be able to come up with something better than that, right? (Gonna think about it.......)

what about "SmudgeGuard Easy Glide Hand Protector". I always like to say what the product is if possible. The phrase here says exactly what it does and is along with the name.

Some other variations of yours:
SmudgeGuard Glide Easy Hand Protector
SmudgeGuard Frictionless Hand Protector - this one is questionable if you know what I mean :)
SmudgeGuard Easy Slide Palm Protector
SmudgeGuard the Frictionless, Smudgless Hand Protector

Ok they`re not the best but its a start.

Funny to see you here today ... because I was just telling the guy that does this sketchcasting stuff with a tablet, that I wrote about today, about your product. Maybe there`s some cross promotion action potential there!

I like Todd`s concepts ... keep it simple, say what it is and don`t make us guess.

But it`s not a hand protector.  It`s more a paper/drawing/tablet protector.  It protects other things from your hand.  I mean, it technically does both but hands wash easier than those other things.

Anyway... I`ll give it some thought as I use my SmudgeGurard.  Yes Jeannie, it came yesterday.  Thank you!  I haven`t had a chance to write you yet because I`ve been slamming on a deadline but I`ve been giving the SG a go.  So far so good!

I`ll brainstorm some ideas as my hand glides effortlessly across my tablet.

Craig,

I`ll look forward to your thoughts.

Todd,

Out of your variations, I like "SmudgeGuard Glide Easy Hand Protector" the best. Thanks for making an effort to start!

Nikole,

Sketchcasting is awesome! And yes, there`s definitely some cross promotion action potential there! Thanks for bringing up my product!

Steve,

Great to hear you received it.  I will look forward to your ideas as well!

Thanks!

Jeannie

Okay...so wadda we got... There`s the feature of protecting the paper from oils and sweat, and the feature of preventing smudges in the actual writing media. The combination is a smudge, but so far, in the brainstorming, there appears to be a split between the two main features.

Is it an artificial split? Do we want to focus on "frictionless" and "sliding?" Is that actually part of smudges and wrinkles?

What does NOT happen when you have this item? You do not:
  • smudge lines and drawings
  • wrinkle paper
  • slide tablets inadvertently
  • rip thin pieces of paper
  • get sweat stains and oil on pristine backgrounds.
If you think about it, a "SmudgeGuard" technically is a Paper Protector. I`m not so sure lack of friction covers everything. It might, for the tablets...right? But would that consolidate all the features?

Smudge...right away conjures up images of blur, blot, smear, bleed, fuzziness, out of focus. The opposition is:
  • Clean lines
  • Precision, accuracy, perfection, exactitude
  • Clear, clarity
  • Focus, sharp
True, we can achieve that by reducing sweat and friction, but that`s a "process" not a feature.

Then there`s the whole "no mess" that originally was part of the inspiration. Don`t get ink on the edge of your hand, or your sleeve cuff. That`s still a major component of the feature list, but gets lost in the concern over friction.

...............still thinkin`...........

Now, you see why I needed all your help! My brain was getting fried!

Okay, but I have some more ideas.  Please note that they are just random thoughts. They may not make sense. But I will write it down anyway.

Now, after hearing Nikole say to keep it simple and say what it is..

My thought is that it is a little glove. A protective glove.

So should it begin with " SmudgeGuard - a little glove that....."

- a little glove that`s a cut above.

- a little glove with alot of love. - remember, I`m just making it up!

- the wonder glove

- a little glove that hides and glides

- a little glove that slides and glides

Hmm..okay, NEXT! Who`s next?
