Any great websites connecting mentors with mentees these days?  Haven't done a search (which I should of done frankly & will a little later), but wanted to query all you guys out there to see if you know any great "online connections" that helps you find "great mentors?"  I have one fantastic mentor, but he's not in the business that I'm in and wouldn't mind talking "more shop" with a mentor like person.

Thanks in a advance!

Here's a good resource.

http://www.score.org/index.html

The most important quality about a mentor for me is their ability to challenge your thinking.  That's the relationship I have with a person I consider my mentor.

And just because they are not able to talk shop, is really a good thing.  They should really get you thinking long term, bigger picture/issues.

If you want to talk shop, find groups or organizations that are in your industry.

Best of success

Doug

Consider going to your alma mater and checking for people that graduated a couple years before you in a similar program. I think we fail to recognize the power of our  universities for networking.

If you aren't a college grad or don't want to access that source - go to local chamber of commerce who are connected to a plethora of business owners - retired and active. Then of course there are Elks, Legions, and other fraternal organizations. Free and good way to tap into retired folk who are looking to share their wealth of knowledge and expertise.

I have created a nonprofit in new york that I am hoping will no only be an online educational and talent hub of material, but can also connect members to mentors, employers, etc.... grants, micro loans.  It is at the seed stage and I now have to organize the Board of Directors.  I think mentoring is important and as a former educator who had to stop doing her job due to Fibromyalgia I wanted to continue that route and still make a difference, hence the S.H.D.C. was born.

I've not been wild about SCORE. I've tried them out several times over the years, and I've found that rather than challenging my thinking, they had a tendency to discount it.

I've tried different states, different fields of interest to no avail.

That said, I love the idea of a mentor/mentee site. Perhaps even an exchange of ideas and interest, where people can put in the time to earn site ponits to "spend" on getting mentoring from others.

Hmmm. That would be fun to add to my growing list. *grins*

That said, here are a few sites I found:

Good luck!
