I looked at the stie, and wasn`t too thrilled with it. Two big problems
(for me) were the changing banner at the top (from Maryland Keymakers
to Bodies in Motion), and the hard-to-read typeface contrast.
The shifting banner makes no sense at all, and totally confused me in
terms of any kind of message. That, and there`s too much text in both
to get any sort of message across.
If I want a Web developer, and happen to find your site, I want to see a couple of things instantly....with a 4-second "glance."
- I`ll assume my site will look like this site: Do I like it?
- How easy is their site to use, since they`ll probably make my site the same or in a similar way?
- What are they selling?
- What`s so special about them?
The development and design field is filled with people. It`s not
saturated yet, but it sure is hard to stand out. This site doesn`t
stand out.
I`m using FireFox 1.x, and IE 6.x, and had no trouble at all viewing the site.
I went to the "Our Work" tab, and expected to see a quick and easy link
to a portfolio. Instead, I saw only more text. What might be better
would be some thumbnails or a gallery of images (clickable) that show a
virtual tour of some of your best work, along with customer
testimonials.
You have that, but I only began to see it when I randomly clicked on
some of the topics listed in the "Our Work" page. There needs to be a
better, more visual way to quickly get the visitor *seeing* your
work...not reading about it, y`know?
Again, the font color was so hard to read, it was a chore. If it weren`t
for this being a critique, I would`ve left the home page shortly after
I arrived.
All in all, your work is really good! The logos are excellent, and you
have something I think is a solid value. It`s just not being presented
well.
Not everyone is an expert at everything. In the most broad categories,
we`d separate Production people from Marketing people. I`m thinking you
excel in production, so why not invest a little money in a professional
marketing person or company? "Do what you do best, and delegate the
rest," as they say. :-)
