I am reading a book called “The new rules of marketing and PR”.  The author commented that Eisenberg brothers used PRweb to promote their book “Waiting for your cat to bark”.

I found this paragraph very interesting:

“The Eisenbergs sent one news release via PRWEB each and every business day.  Let me repeat = they sent a news release every day for a period of several months.  The purpose of the news release was to get the ideas into the marketplace so that the bloggers would find the information covered in the book and then write about it.  Note that the Eisenbergs did not send the daily releases to the media via email; rather, this was a strategy to reach bloggers and consumers via search engines and RSS feeds thru news release content.”

Is it really worth it to send press release out this often thru PRWEB?

I used PRWEB to send out press release last week with the “Social Media Visibility” package.  I am unclear as to which package to use: Social Media Visibility ($120) or SEO visibility ($200).

Can you please comment as to which one is more effective in reaching the press and bloggers?

Thanks a lot!

There`s really no way to answer this question ... who is your audience? What is your product or your release topic?

Do I think you should send one out every day? No, I think it`s a waste of money. That person could have just networked with the bloggers, made some friends, and discussed the ongoings directly.

But would a well-applied press release do you good? Sure, depending on what your goal is with it.

I think you have to be at the $200 level to qualify for eWire distribution, which goes out on services like Google news.

I agree. You can save a lot of money by creating relationships with the media members who cover your target audiences rather than sending out "blanket" releases every day. Plus, you`ll make a much better impression for your business.

PR Web offers some very cost-effective services. I often use the $40.00 release just to "get the word out" combined with other, more targeted publicity actions.

Me three!

Some people conduct PR like they serve pasta - they cook it, put in a bowl so it looks pretty and then they throw it up on the wall to see what sticks - meaning, you want the easy way out through mass distribution and the media coming to you.  This is not how it works 98% of the time.

If a product, service, or individual story is that amazing then media will find it on their own.  One of the tactics of the practice of public relations is to assist media in fnding stories they wouldn`t find on their own.  You will really stand out by generating relationships with media.  Think of it from the perspective of ongoing PR and longevity in your strategies.

You also have to realize that there are a lot of businesses and stories out there vying for the attention of the media and you have to really differentiate yourself to cut through the clutter.   Just because one company had success with this plan does not mean it will work for all.  You have to look at the uniqueness of the story and product and current news and trends, which tyically assists in creating a postivie outcome for all successful PR campaigns.

At the end of the day there is no easy way to generate positive public relations results for your business.  You can either make the time to do it right the first time - you never have a second chance to make a positive first impression - or you can put money into distribution services that guarantee delivery to specific editors instead of "seeing what sticks".  Yes, they`re more expensive and still require follow up but you will actually be targeting your audience.

PRWeb is a good tool, like all distribution services, but you need to be realistic in how you use it; strategic.

I`m looking forward to hearing about your success!

Best,

Jennifer

I would go with the SEO option. You will get a stronger internet presence out of the deal.
