My sound isn`t working on my computer and I tried checking all the usual volume control, and things like that.  Someone suggested I need to down load drivers to get my speakers working again.  Does anyone out there know where I would go to get such a thing.  I use `Windows XP home version` operating system.  I would appreciate any help you can give me.

Thanks,
Hubert

more importantly when did they quit working, what did you do? If you go into your system folder and check the device try updating the drivers.

There can be varied reasons why you don`t have any sound.

Check the following:

1) speaker jack can be faulty
2) wires of your speaker could`ve gone bad

more technical issues:

3) sound card can be bad
4) drivers could`ve been lost
5) if you`ve checked everything above and it still doesn`t work, run a system restore from the day you remember that your sound was still working.

Good Luck!

Thanks to all of you that replied.  Actually this is a problem that has been here since I got my computer back from getting a new power supply and new XP home operating system.

I probably should have taken care of it back then, but was so happy to have my computer up and be back in business.  I do get audio, but only on my VOIP phone receiver.

Does this bring any other possibilities for fixing this to mind.

Please let me know.

Thanks again,

Hubert

Well,
You just said it! you took your computer in for a new power supply and new OS..
If that is the case, you might have to install your drivers.. I don`t know what type of Computer you have or what type of motherboard.

If you`re using a PCI sound card - the type you install on the slots, most likely it`s going to be a Creative Labs or some Other type of Generic Card.

If you`re using your motherboard as your sound card, then most people use Realtek... I wouldn`t be able to tell you unless you give me your Motherboard number... Just look on your Driver Installation CD and click on the sound Card.

That usually happens when you install or Re-install the Operating Sys.
