Wow its been more than 3 years since I have posted on these forums :)

So basically I own a brick and mortar store and an ecommerce website as well. I want to implement a system where the inveentory is updated on both based on sales. For example someone buys widget A in the store, the inventory for it is updated on the website as well. I am assuming perhaps some integration with the POS system? Does anyone know what I can do for this.

My brother is trying to work out the same problem.  Any help would be appreciated.

i did this for my perfume retail business some years back. you need to integrate your POS system at the store to the back end of your ecomm store (zencart?).  once integrated, the product shares from the same pool of inventory. the other option is to hire someone and daily update an excel spreadsheet.  highly tedious and prone to human error. but i did fine with this strategy for a few months while we were growing.

Yeah I wanted to take out the error part of it as well as tediousness. The thing is I was hoping to have a solution I wouldn't need to change down the line and instead work on promoting the store since I would be doing SEO on it. Do you guys think Magento might have a solution?

Quickbooks and their POS system if you are selling inventory like at a store.

You can also check out Freshbooks. They've got a good and inexpensive system that may be able to help you on this one.
