I'm thinking of starting an online store. I've read all the how-to's for making an e-commerce website but I haven't found a thread on how to get the products. Specifically:

How to contact the right person of a company of the "abc" products I'd like to sell (without being stuck with customer service)?

How to determine online wholesale/retail prices?

Setting up drop-shipping since I don't want to hold any products.

Anyone have advice? Thanks!

Online store services such as Amazon eStores or Zilo. Zilo shops allow you to re-sell items taken by Buy.com and other suppliers by composing opinions of items and concentrating on a concept that makes customers life easier. Amazon eStores and Zilo shops allow you to get in the game fast, but do not allow you to bring your own physical stock.

Why carry products??? Have you ever considered affiliate marketing? Basically, you can sell someone else's products or services -- and make a commission from the sales. The big advantage to affiliate marketing, is you can work on your own and make money without dealing with inventory, employees or overhead!

Might be something worth looking in to ;)

Wholesalers and dropshippers are constantly online and searching for people to sell all their products to. First of all, it is important to know what a Wholesaler is:

A wholesaler is either a person or company that sells you products by the bundle. They will also sell you this "bundle" of products for a cheaper price. For example, if you want to sell baseball cards for 20$ each, you will want to buy a bundle of 20 baseball cards for 200$. In return you'll buy the cards for 10$ each and get 10$ profit for each card you sell.

If you sell the whole bundle - you'll make 200$ in profit. It's that simple, and the more you sale - the more wholesale you'll be able to buy.

Dropshippers are similar to this fashion, except you do not have to buy bundle, and they ship directly to your customer. Both are viable solutions to an online business!
