How to find out how much publisher and subscription business model sites make ?

1.    How can you research/find out how much sites make from advertising ? For example techcrunch.com is a good blog with lots ads, but how to find out how much these guys make ? I already know alexia.com as a research tool but that only shows traffic stats. Guessing advertising numbers from that can be quite vague.

2.    The same question but this time about sites whose business model is to sell some knowledge base. For example companydocuments.co.uk sells companies accounting accounts information. How to get a vague idea about this company’s profit ?

I am simply interested in company profiling techniques not , these 2 particular companies in particular. Thanks for your collaboration.
