Hi there. I am getting a venture together, and currently I am trying to go from the washington DC area to oceania, specifically auckland, new zealand, with packages. I will be shipping a large volume, so, besides an actual freighting service, what would be the most economical way to do it? The bottom line is the key here, I don't care how long the shipping takes, I just want the lowest rate per volume and/or weight. Could anyone please help me out? thanks.

Just to clarify, I am a complete noob. Do I use FedEx or UPS or something normal? Or are their specialty services for large international shipments, perhaps moving by ship? Details would be appreciated

1) decide which country you want to ship to

2) go to a local ethnic grocery/department store that caters only to people of that country

3) ask the best way to ship - these are where the best deals are found

example: want to ship to Philippines? ask for the "balik bayan" box! available at all Filipino stores.

The actual removal and installation seems to have solved the issue.Thank you for your patience and assistance. They should use a different shipping method or something to reduce prices.

For Your Requirement I have two options.

1. USPS

2.EMS (USPS - Express Mail International)

USPS will tack anything between 20 to 30 Dyes to deliver worldwide. Also there is a chance of losing your goods.

EMS on other hand is more secure. Delivery time 7 days to most countries.

Re international shipping, if you are doing bulk shipments to one country you should try to find an export agent to handle it for you.

From my experience, the USPS (post office) global priority is inexpensive but slow - they accumulate enough packages to fill a container then it gets shipped.  You can't get USPS tracking outside of the country.  International shipping via UPS is extremely expensive because all packages are expedited, but you do get the tracking and insurance.

I did meet someone who was exporting motorcycle parts.  He shipped them to CA to a broker who put them in a container, taking what would have been several thousand dollars of UPS shipping down to a few hundred dollars.

Customs is another factor, each country has unique requirements and you can drive yourself crazy trying to keep up with them.  Some countries limit package size, certain items are prohibited, embargos, the list goes on.  The UPS web site has some good info on this that will apply no matter what shipper you use - http://www.ups.com/ga/CountryRegs?loc=en_US

Hope this helps a little
