Hello!  I'm looking for some wisdom on structuring a budget proposal for a charitable organization.  I own a unique company that functions as both a theatrical producing entity and an event planning company.  I am approaching charities for the first time about creating specialized fundraising benefits for them, but am very unclear on how to charge.

What percentage do charities generally hope to produce in revenue over what they spent to produce the benefit?

I appreciate any thoughts, or hearing about others' experiences on either end of the equation.

Don’t worry about what a nonprofit needs to make off an event.  Worry about what you need to make.  The give them your lowest price you can afford.

I’ve dealt with some nonprofits in the past.  Some expect to be treated like any other client.  While others expect a free ride.  Don’t fall victim to the ones that want a free ride.

Thanks for getting back to me on this!  That sounds reasonable. I'm approaching some enormous foundations, and some small not-for-profits.  I'll adjust my pricing depending upon what I estimate they could afford.
