Mass emailers and spam to me are the least attractive means of Internet marketing these days.  There are at least twenty different methods of getting yourself out there in front of other people and establishing a solid reputation and presence online.  Magnetic marketing concepts are currently the way to go.  Keep in mind that the Internet works no different from the brick and mortar world, in that you have to be willing to establish a good reputation, deliver on your promises, and also do consistent work (as in DAILY) to promote yourself.  You are really selling yourself more than you are the product or service.  Have fun, and make it your passion.

Article Marketing works great for me. Takes a bit of time, but the results are amazing- you`re automatically getting expert status.

About sending mass Emailers be careful. You can lose potential customers.
The advice to use social media sites is good, but don`t jump into the site and tell everyone to come to your website. It takes time to develop friends.
You groups within these social media sites, identify these groups and then you may be able to promote your site.
You have not told us what your website is all about so it becomes hard to offer further advice.
Best.

Blogs are a good way to increase your traffic but videos will out perform blogs ten to one if done right. They will also help you to brand yourself and build trust.

People like to view videos more than they like to read. Places like MySpace and YouTube have become the place to place you videos, of course you need to do what is known as indirect advertising in these place to keep from being thrown out.

It also help to add video to your website again, people are more likely to stay and watch a video before they stay and read your site. This gives you more time to get your point across.

When people read your site you have about 3 seconds to gain their interest with a video you can have as much as 2 to 3 minutes as long as the video has good content in it.

Using video you can gain target traffic and send them to your site, give them valuable content in your video, teach them something, show them why you the expert in your field. Build your trust with them and they will follow you to your site, impress them they will most likely loin your site to learn more!

Hope this helps

There are 5 ways to advertise an online website.

1- Register with these local businesses that are heavy duty in the eyes of Google. Put your URL there and you can support your business listing in more ways than one.

http://www.upspring.com/add_business

www.merchantcircle.com

http://www.propeller.com

http://www.getfave.com

2- Create an account with gmail and add your site to Gmail map.

3- Make sure after you created a blog you want to add these sites onto your pinging list. This way every time you post your article with your link will be all over the net.

http://pingler.com/ (this site pings 90 sites at once)

http://www.pingoat.com/

http://pingomatic.com/

http://www.blogdigger.com/RPC2

http://ping.feedburner.com

http://www.ping.in/

4- Optimize your page at least on the title tag and description tag for the keyword of your industry or your niche. Choose a keyword that has a maximum of 300,000 result pages or less.

5- visit forums of your niche and answers some post. make sure you find those that allow signatures. add your URL to each post.

Social networking and discussion forums are the best source to convey the information to your targeted audience. Blog commenting is another way. Keep the content fresh and involving.
