I'll venture to say "make money online" and "fast" never go in the same sentence. 

Per Twitter, it can be a decent tool for assisting your brand visibility IF, (as you mention) , you interact with others in a REAL way, provide value, link to others content and mention your own products.

I've never heard of someone making money fast on twitter.  I know a few people who make money from it.  

I know 1 guy that got 2000 clicks to a sale page in 1 week with twitter though.  He would have sold something if it was either cheaper or the event wasn't a few days away.

 

I would say go to Odesk.com and find someone who is extremely successful in using twitter to drive traffic and get HIGHLY targeted followers.  Then hire that person to drive traffic to a squeeze page.  

 

A squeeze page is a 1  page website that offers an ethical bribe in exchange for an email address.
