As an entrepreneur I find myself working 10-12 hours a day. I get six hours of sleep but I try for eight.

How many hours do you work and sleep? What systems do you use for time management?

It depends on the project that I am working on. On some days, I can begin working as early as 5am and not realize that it`s almost 10pm. Time can slip away when you are on a mission. I have had days where I work for 8 hours - those are the light days.

Hi Entreprini,

I have taken over a new business on the web for my father recently and I have found myself spending about 15 hours a day 7 days a week (no exaggeration) trying to research, implement, and basically get this business going.  Unfortunately I am going no where fast!  I go to bed around 4:30, 5 am every morning and get up between 9 and 10 am.  The house is seriously lacking and my 13 year old son thinks I have a keyboard permanently attached to my fingers.  (Not to mention what my husband thinks).  Several articles that I have read say to treat this like any other job and just work it 8 to 10 hours and make sure to take days off (preferrably weekends).  Sometimes you can get too involved and lose sight of where you`re going and what you want to achieve.  Taking a step back can rejuvenate you and allows you the opportunity to gain a better perspective on things.  (Guess I should take my own advice, huh?)  What do you do if I may ask?  I`ve learned alot in this adventure and if there`s any information that I can share with you please let me know.
Lora

Now that we have switched to a 4 day work week (to cut fuel cost) i am averaging about 15-17 hours a day for those 4 days. Friday is the "Honey Do list" day, then Saturday is paper work and planning the following week for 7-10 hours. Then my favorite day of the week SUNDAY is reserved for Faith and Family. All this is contingent on weather at this time of year! Say good by to Fay and looks like Gustav is around the corner.

It seems many of us have something in common, we can`t stop working. To answer your question diddlehill, beside my blog I run a business involving Virtual Offices. I am also part of the local chambers and I am also VP of my own networking group. Currently I am putting a charity event together which will take place in October.

I love what I do; therefore, I feel like there is never enough time to do anything. Hope this gives you an idea.

Wow, you are very busy.  How do you keep up with it all?  I can relate about the loving what you do and feeling like there`s not enough time in the day.  Everything I`ve been doing this last month and a half is everything I like to do or always wanted to learn how to do.  Plus, it`s for my dad to help him recoup his investment and make money.  I feel like I owe him so much just because he`s my father and for everything he has done (and not done) for me.  When you have passion and channel it in the right direction how can you go wrong?  Good luck with everything you do.

I`d say about 12 hours a day.  I`m doing freelance work so I try and space it out to get everything done.  I`ll wake up and get my e-mails done (1-2 hours), eat breakfast, exercise, run errands, etc.  Then go back to work as soon as I`m done until dinner time, eat, then back to work until bed.

I make sure to take time off even if I shouldn`t.  It`s important to keep time for yourself or you end up looking at a screen doing nothing.

Especially if you are in a client-search phase like I am right now...exhausting almost never ending missions that have you checking your e-mail every 3 minutes.
