Most startups usually don`t have the luxury of hiring a full-time, salaried IT person.

So what do you do with both your immediate tech needs and more intermediate- to long-term IT needs?

I was interviewed for this TechNewsWorld article (A Plethora of One-Stop Shops for Small Biz Tech) and got a couple of nice quotes in toward the end.

see http://www.technewsworld.com/story/59966.html

However the real reason I bring the article to your attention is to outline some of the options/alternatives that small businesses use to get their tech support.

And more importantly, how does your startup get tech support?

Which "category" do YOU fall into?

well at our salon its all me, I do all the computer and tech maintenance. But then again, I also do all the flyers, printing, copyrighting, promoting, etc. I guess what the heck toss in the tech stuff too! LOL.

We hired professionals to design our website (our smartest move yet!) and they provide the technical support we require, if we require any.

We find that this allows us the freedom and time to do what we do best, which isn`t digging into the technical aspect of running a website.

As a software developer I usually do my own. However for items such as financial packages and so on I usually select a COTS solution  (i.e. Microsoft Small Business Accounting, MS Office). I did outsource the design of my web-site since I am not an artist.
