Wow, can you imagine how the other 5 billion people search? Now what were we saying about SEO and SEM and Meta Tags? Is SEO an over rated word?
Or is that, most net users are starting to get smarter and know "that just because they`re on the first page doesn`t mean they have what you`re looking for?"

I think we`re all just over confident.
BTW? Where`s blondieblue? Im surprised she hasn`t mentioned go--truck....

Jason Miller wrote a great article about just what you are asking ...

Here`s the link ..

Nuevolution, I guess you forgot to read this posting here. No mention of anything other than an article from one of YOUR industry`s trade publications.

I guess you dismiss the research that MicroSoft had done ... I mean they are only one of the leaders in YOUR indusrty.

*cough cough choke*

Microsoft is an industry leader in web-related technology?

*cough cough smile*

I read the link - eye-tracking studies are always pretty cool. That picture of the guy with the big eyes freaks me out though!

I also read the descriptions.  I tend to look at sites based on those descriptions, usually on both page one and two, unless I was researching something and found the answer right away.  I`ll search many more pages if I`m still looking. I will also try a different keyword search or phrase, and do that several times to find a better search result.

So, I guess you`re right Edgar.  Being on the first page doesn`t necessarily mean, they have what you`re looking for.  I`ve had some frustrating searches today, trying to find what I`m looking for! :)

Janie - what you describe is the problem I have with a lot of internet marketing and SEO tactics. When you try to manipulate the content and force the listings, people get frustrated with the inability to find things due to numerous false results. It`s like the practice of pushing search engine listings will be the death of the search engine itself.

One issue we all face when searching for something is... how I describe something may not be the way another person does, or the website (description or content) does.

So, it can be (1) a challeng for people to write a description and content that is universally responsive to search terms entered by people. (2) Frustrating for the people searching for an answer.
