Reviewers,

I`ve been writing a blog for a about 3-4 weeks and would like to expand my readership. But this is where I`m running into a brick wall. Suggestions?

I would also appreciate some comments/critique on the links below.

For fun, I also started an informational blog. Please let me know what you think.

Thanks,

Roy

p.s. I`ve been using pingoat, pingomatic, blog flux, and ifeeds.

:-) This is sort of like asking, "I`ve written a book. How do I get more people to read it?"

Get a publishing house to sign you on. :-)

On a serious note, I meant directory services, search engines, links, keywords, metatags, and etc.

I`m very careful to use important key words in my blog.  For instance, I blogged about Creative Memories` National Scrapbook Day scrapbook event name "MEMORANZA" because it was so silly sounding.  That entry got me a lot of  mileage because I blogged about it before any of their consultants started posting on their sites about it.  So, for about 2 months, when someone searched for MEMORANZA on Google or Yahoo, guess who came up first?  My blog about it. Meanwhile, CM is advertising MEMORANZA all over increasing the likelihood that people will search for info about the event.

I use keywords that will cause my blog to come up in searches relevant to my industry.  Blogger does a great job of getting it into the searches very quickly - especially at Google.

I also have gotten my blog to feed into blogsites within the scrapbook industry - often just by asking to be added.  That increases my readership.

I also blog about widely known industry people from time to time - often commenting on something found at their blog.  They will usually pick up the link and place it on their blog with a link-back.  That also increases the number of people reading the blog.

HTH!

~Kim

Thanks Kim. I appreciate the feedback.

For Blogger entries, how do you add the keywords? I noticed that the beta version of Blogger asks for labels, but I didn`t notice an option to add keywords into the legacy version.

You should read this article:

The 120 Day Wonder: How to Evangelize a Blog

It was written by Guy Kawasaki, former apple exec and Mac evangelist.  If you like it, click on the "blogging" link under catagories, he`s got all kinds of great stuff.

enjoy....

Hi Roy

With blogs the big three are:
1. List in as many blog directories as possible
2. Find people with similar blogs then arrange a link swap
3. Create controversy
