I`m very careful to use important key words in my blog. For instance, I blogged about Creative Memories` National Scrapbook Day scrapbook event name "MEMORANZA" because it was so silly sounding. That entry got me a lot of mileage because I blogged about it before any of their consultants started posting on their sites about it. So, for about 2 months, when someone searched for MEMORANZA on Google or Yahoo, guess who came up first? My blog about it. Meanwhile, CM is advertising MEMORANZA all over increasing the likelihood that people will search for info about the event.
I use keywords that will cause my blog to come up in searches relevant to my industry. Blogger does a great job of getting it into the searches very quickly - especially at Google.
I also have gotten my blog to feed into blogsites within the scrapbook industry - often just by asking to be added. That increases my readership.
I also blog about widely known industry people from time to time - often commenting on something found at their blog. They will usually pick up the link and place it on their blog with a link-back. That also increases the number of people reading the blog.
