I've been thinking about running banner ads.  I don't know how to choose sites for this.

Of course I want highly targeted traffic and I will email people in the same niche as myself but I wanted to know if there are any ad networks that have had good results.

Let me know what you guys use.

Most of the banner advertising you might see on the internet or on different websites, are powered by Google adware or other form of advertising network which you can see in the banner itself. Google Adword has display network in which there are thousands of websites on which you can advertise your banner and filter the sites. You can also choose specific placement for banner advertising.

If you want to place your banner ads on a lot of sites and don't want to put in the time to negotiate with the sites yourself, then using a banner network is a good option. Banner ad networks simply act as brokers between advertisers and publishers. Like banner exchange programs, they take care of placing an advertiser's banner ads and tracking all activity related to that ad. They also share one of the main drawbacks of banner exchange programs, however -- a lack of client control. Banner networks decide where to place banner ads, and they don't give each client the level of attention an advertising agency would. Consequently, there's a good chance you won't always be happy where your banner ad gets displayed. Many Web sites happily accept this shortcoming in light of the extensive services ad networks provide at a relatively low cost

Banner advertising is a great way to get the word out about your website, online business and more. Here are 5 tips for choosing the best location banner ads.

1. Think Demographic - Your audience and market demographics should be tattooed on the head of everyone in your marketing department.

2.Get Statistical - Before signing up for paying to put up your banner advertisements on a certain website, ask to see their statistics and do some digging around to ensure the results the site offers you are legitimate.

3. Browse the News - Certain products and services feed off the current happenings in the news.

4. Combine Efforts - If you are doing any other public relations or marketing outreach there may be opportunities for you to piggy back your banner advertisements off these outreach efforts.

5. Trust a Professional - When push comes to shove, your time may be better spent on other aspects of your company than selecting banner advertisement locations.

Your audience and market demographics should be tattooed on the head of everyone in your marketing department. Simply saying “everyone is our target market” is a surefire way to have a sub-par advertising campaign. Take the time to create a marketing plan which clearly details specific groups of people who would be interested in your product or service and have the means to throw dollars or time your way. Knowing your demographic is the first step to choosing websites where your future customers are congregating and announce your great products or services with a banner ad.

That website must have huge traffic, because if you are showing banner on any webpage which doesn't have enough traffic then what's the benefit of that banner for your website. And why should you pay for that?
