I`m starting up a wedding website which will have a vendor listing with a membership fee (once we have a large userbase).  How would I go about getting them to sign up?  There are so many vendors out there..so any tips for how to get them to sign up in groups instead of individually?  For example, if you look at TheKnot or WeddingChannel, they have tons of vendors listed.

First, you have to get people to your website. Then you need to offer them something for the fee or just to get them for free.

If they think there is value in signing up they will. But you have to show them there is value, ie how many people will read the listing daily. What do they get out of it.

Of course you get your site going but what do I get as a vendor?

Offer them something. Maybe a featured listing on your homepage for 1 week afetr they sign up or a toaster or something.
