How do I start a non-profit organization?

Can someone tell me the fees?  Where to go?  I need steps to take.  Thank you so much

I don`t know the fees associated with it, however the first step would be to organize as a corporation, since you need to have a separate business entity. Then you must apply for a non-profit license to be considered a Not-For-Profit organization. You can check your state website for the forms and specifics of the process.

First of all, there is a difference be not-for-profit and tax-exempt. There are also several (20) categories under which an entity can file.
