Yes

From: http://www.startupnation.com/forums/5864/1/1 - The placement of your targeted keywords/phrases is critical for good search engine results. This assumes that you have determined the keywords/phrases that are appropriate  - words that your target market/customer would use to find your site.

Each search engine values the placement of keywords differently. Howerver, here is a general outline of the important places to use your targeted keywords:

  • Your domain name.
  • Web page url.
  • Web page title meta tag (each page should have a different title).
  • Web page description meta tag (each page should have a different description).
  • Internal links (text based links to other pages) in your navigation and content.
  • In-bound links - text based links form other websites/directories and posts and signatures on forums.
  • H1, h2, h3... apply these styles to keywords in your content.
  • Bold text... apply to keywords in your content.
  • Alt image tags - have to each and every image in your web pages.
  • Text content.

Please note, when using keywords...try to limit the keywords to two or three on a web page. Do not put all your targeted keywords on one page. You`ll see that the above list talks about text not graphics... search engine do not see graphics (they see the alt image tag defined for a graphic). Also, keyword combinations of two or three words rather than a single word is more successful.

Researching your keywords is an important step to take, before determining what keywords to use in your website. So, you`ll pick keywords that (1) people actually use and  (2) are not so highly competitive. Here are some keyword resources.

----------------------------------

These concepts apply to any website, dynamic or static. If you provide your website`s URL, I can be more specific as SEO relates to your website. If you prefer not to post your URL on the forum, feel free to PM or email me.

There are some issues with dynamic site`s page url`s, but those can be overcome.

By using the AppleCart Shopping cart system .....

http://applecart.info

With the click of one button .. you are able to do everything that vwebworld listed ... and create HTML pages of every item in your store ... (hundreds of individual web pages .... a web page of each product you have in your .cgi store. ... in less than a minute.)

Plus the search engines love the shopping cart and index the .cgi script also.

Not all dynamic websites are shopping cart sites or employ shopping cart programs.

Solutions` website does not use a shopping cart system.

You are right .... Solutions` website DOES NOT use a shopping cart .... but he does use a data base.

What is a shopping cart? A data base , with a check out function. Do you truly think that the success of the AppleCart cart is in the check-out process ... of course not, silly goose.

Its in the way the Data Base is created, manipulated, and displayed. Simply use the AppleCart system, create the template that you need to display your individual listings (without the check-out process) (and Roland I know you are smart enough to be able to create a template)  and Viola !!! Your Data Base is search engine friendly, creates HTML pages of every listing, and is easy to search and maintain.

Now do you see why I`ve been touting the AppleCart system ... its not the shopping cart aspect ... its the Data Base Management part thats the best part.

Our database is not a database of products, it`s a database of businesses.

Gee, you simply answered you own question ... a data base is a data  base. (I truly hope you see the basic premise here.) In fact let me show you something from your website and then from a site using AppleCart ... and you tell me if the Search method is very much different.

Your Site ...

http://www.listmyservices.com/

An AppleCart Site ...

http://www.boxerhaus.com/cgi-bin/acart/apple-search.pl

There is not much difference in the Search Blocks on both sites ...

one has a data base of businesses ..

the other ... a data base of products ...

Has the light bulb turned on yet ... or are you still   ?

The beauty of it all is ... you don`t need to change anything about the visual aspects of your web site ... simply the underlying data base ... since the Search Block mthod you use now will integrate directly into AppleCart.
